  1. 21. On the effect of nitrogen, hydrogen and cooling rate on the solidification and pore formation in Fe-base and Al-base alloys

    Author : Advenit Makaya; Hasse Fredriksson; Zhongyun Fan; KTH; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Porous metals; Metal foams; Gas solubility; Fe-base alloys; Al-base alloys; M7C3 carbides; Al3Ti; Al3Fe; Rapid solidification; Metastable phases; Other materials science; Övrig teknisk materialvetenskap;

    Abstract : Experiments on the production of porous metallic materials were performed on Fe-base and Al-base alloys. The method involves dissolution of gases in the liquid state and solidification at various cooling rates. The alloy compositions were selected to induce solidification of primary particles intended to control the pore distribution. READ MORE

  2. 22. Analysis of laser arc hybrid welding experiments

    Author : Javier Lamas; Petri Vuoristo; Luleå tekniska universitet; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Manufacturing Systems Engineering; Produktionsutveckling;

    Abstract : The thesis is about the analysis of experimental results on the laser arc hybrid welding (LAHW) process as well as about the methodology and tools behind. Due to the high potential on weld penetration and welding speed, the industrial importance of LAHW techniques has been increasing in the recent years. READ MORE

  3. 23. Laser beam-material interaction in Powder Bed Fusion

    Author : Tatiana Fedina; Knut Partes; Luleå tekniska universitet; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Produktionsutveckling; Manufacturing Systems Engineering;

    Abstract : The acceptance of additive manufacturing (AM) depends on the quality of final parts and the process repeatability. Recently, many studies have been dedicated to the establishment of the relationship between the process behavior and material performance. READ MORE

  4. 24. Urban Snowmelt Processes: Modelling and Observation

    Author : Annette Semadeni Davies; Avdelningen för Teknisk vattenresurslära; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; geographical and geological engineering; Hydrogeology; energy; runoff; snow properties; heterogeneity; hydrological modelling; Urbanisation; snowmelt; Hydrogeologi; teknisk geologi; teknisk geografi; Geophysics; physical oceanography; meteorology; Geofysik; fysisk oceanografi; meteorologi;

    Abstract : In northern Scandinavia and other cold regions, urban drainage systems are often unable to cope with the high volumes of melt water which can be sustained for several weeks. High waste water treatment plant inflows, combined system overflows and low water quality are a few problems associated with snowmelt. READ MORE

  5. 25. Processing Aspects for Improving Mechanical Properties in Aluminium Castings

    Author : Jonas Bäckman; Linköpings universitet; []
    Keywords : Aluminium; microstructure; mechanical properties; gradient solidification; mould filling; filter; filter parameter; casting simulation; TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIKVETENSKAP;

    Abstract : The relation between the process and mechanical properties in aluminium alloys for castings has been examined. The relation was hard to define since the spread in data was severe due to defects created in the casting process. To avoid such defects a gradient solidification equipment was built. READ MORE
