1. Concepts for improving ethanol productivity from lignocellulosic materials : encapsulated yeast and membrane bioreactors
Abstract : Lignocellulosic biomass is a potential feedstock for production of sugars, which can be fermented into ethanol. The work presented in this thesis proposes some solutions to overcome problems with suboptimal process performance due to elevated cultivation temperatures and inhibitors present during ethanol production from lignocellulosic materials. 2. Study of H2/CO/CO2 adsorption on MFI zeolites for CO2 selective WGS membrane reactor concept
Abstract : The single-component adsorption behavior of CO, CO2 and multi-component adsorption of H2/CO2, CO/CO2, and H2/CO/CO2 on silicalite-1 and cation exchanged MZSM-5 zeolites (M = H, Na, and Ba) were investigated by a step change response method. Temperature programmed desorption (TPD) and in-situ fourier transform infrared (FTIR) spectroscopy were also performed to study the type of adsorbed species and their thermal stabilities. READ MORE

3. Methane and Volatile Fatty Acids Production from Toxic Substrate
Abstract : Challenges caused by climate change and global warming have created a demand for improvements in resource recovery and the promotion of a circular economy. Waste management is one such challenge for which more recycling options are required for producing materials and energy sources from wastes. READ MORE

4. Gas Adsorption and Permeation in MFI Zeolites and Membranes
Abstract : The single and multi component gas adsorption behavior on silicalite-1 and cation exchanged MZSM-5 zeolites (M = H, Na, and Ba) were investigated by a step change response method. Temperature programmed desorption (TPD) and in-situ fourier transform infrared (FTIR) spectroscopy were also performed to study the type of adsorbed species and their thermal stabilities. READ MORE

5. Computational Analysis and Modeling Techniques for Monolithic Membrane Reactors Related to CO2 Free Power Processes
Abstract : Funded by European Community and Swiss government research project AZEP (Advanced Zero Emission Power Plant), the project was carried out at the Department of Energy Sciences at Lund Faculty of Engineering (LTH). The project addressed the development of a specific, zero emissions, gas turbine-based, power generation process to reduce local and global emissions in a cost-effective way. READ MORE
