  1. 1. Heterogeneous Integration of Shape Memory Alloysfor High-Performance Microvalves

    Author : Henrik Gradin; Göran Stemme; Peter Woias; KTH; []
    Keywords : Microelectromechanical systems; MEMS; silicon; wafer-level; integration; heterogeneous integration; wafer bonding; Au-Si; eutectic bonding; release etching; electrochemical etching; microvalves; microactuators; shape memory alloy; SMA; NiTinol; TiNi; NiTi; cold-state reset; bias spring; gate valves; wire bonding;

    Abstract : This thesis presents methods for fabricating MicroElectroMechanical System (MEMS) actuators and high-flow gas microvalves using wafer-level integration of Shape Memory Alloys (SMAs) in the form of wires and sheets. The work output per volume of SMA actuators exceeds that of other microactuation mechanisms, such as electrostatic, magnetic and piezoelectric actuation, by more than an order of magnitude, making SMA actuators highly promising for applications requiring high forces and large displacements. 2. 2. Knowing if you would have known : A model of the hindsight bias

    Author : Anders Winman; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : SAMHÄLLSVETENSKAP; SOCIAL SCIENCES; Psychology; Hindsight bias; knew-it-all-along effect; calibration; realism of confidence; Psykologi; Psychology; Psykologi; Psychology; psykologi;

    Abstract : A common finding in previous research on judgment under uncertainty is that when participants are presented with the correct answer to a general knowledge item or feedback about the actual outcome of an event they respond as if they "knew-it-all-along", as if the presented answer or outcome was easy to predict. The present thesis consists of ten experiments and offers a new theoretical model of this phenomenon, commonly referred to as hindsight bias. READ MORE

  3. 3. Processing affective information after sleep loss

    Author : Andreas Gerhardsson; Håkan Fischer; Johanna Schwarz; Daniel Lundqvist; Philippe Peigneux; Stockholms universitet; []
    Keywords : SAMHÄLLSVETENSKAP; SOCIAL SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; sleep deprivation; sleep restriction; affective bias; emotional working memory; positivity effect; sömnbrist; sömnrestriktion; emotionellt bias; arbetsminne; positivitetseffekten; psykologi; Psychology;

    Abstract : It is not fully understood why we need to sleep, although it is evident that sleep loss has consequences for many emotional and cognitive functions. The last couple of decades, sleep researchers have been increasingly devoted to better understand the relationship between sleep and affect. READ MORE

  4. 4. Cognitive-behavioral treatment and theory in posttraumatic stress disorder

    Author : Nenad Paunović; Terence Keane; Stockholms universitet; []
    Keywords : SAMHÄLLSVETENSKAP; SOCIAL SCIENCES; acute PTSD; crime victims; prevention; chronic PTSD; refugees; cognitive-behavior therapy; exposure therapy; Stroop task; attentional and memory bias; preattentive bias; face recognition.; psykologi; Psychology;

    Abstract : The present dissertation contains four empirical studies. The first two investigated the efficacy of cognitive-behavioral (CBT) treatments for posttraumatic stress disorder (PTSD) by randomizing patients to two different groups. The last two are experimental studies that tested parts of the cognitive theory of PTSD. READ MORE

  5. 5. Wafer-level heterogeneous integration of MEMS actuators

    Author : Stefan Braun; Göran Stemme; Martin A. Schmidt; KTH; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Microelectromechanical systems; MEMS; silicon; wafer-level; integration; heterogeneous integration; transfer integration; packaging; assembly; wafer bonding; adhesive bonding; eutectic bonding; release etching; electrochemical etching; microvalves; microactuator; Shape Memory Alloy; SMA; NITINOL; TiNi; NiTi; cold-state reset; bias spring; stress layers; crossbar switch; routing; switch; switch array; electrostatic actuator; S-shaped actuator; zipper actuator; addressing; transfer stamping; blue tape; Computer engineering; Datorteknik;

    Abstract : This thesis presents methods for the wafer-level integration of shape memory alloy (SMA) and electrostatic actuators to functionalize MEMS devices. The integration methods are based on heterogeneous integration, which is the integration of different materials and technologies. READ MORE
