  1. 1. Alcohol-intoxicated eyewitnesses´ memory

    Author : Angelica Hagsand; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Keywords : SAMHÄLLSVETENSKAP; SOCIAL SCIENCES; SAMHÄLLSVETENSKAP; SOCIAL SCIENCES; eyewitness; memory; alcohol; intoxicated; interview; lineup;

    Abstract : Eyewitnesses are an important source of information in many criminal investigations. However, the memory of an eyewitness is not always accurate, and errors may occur that have serious consequences. Alcohol-related crimes are common and therefore, intoxicated witnesses are common. 2. 2. Characterization and Compensation of Hardware Impairments in Transmitters for Wireless Communications

    Author : Zain Ahmed Khan; Peter Händel; Magnus Isaksson; Mikko Valkama; KTH; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Power amplifier; RF transmitters; SISO; MIMO; crosstalk; Volterra series; Volterra kernels; behavioral modeling; DPD; Ramanujan sums; multitone signals; I Q Imbalance; non-linearity; memory polynomial; density estimation; hardware impairments; Electrical Engineering; Elektro- och systemteknik;

    Abstract : Increasing demands for data rate, energy efficiency and reliability in wireless communications have resulted in the introduction of radio frequency (RF) multiple input multiple output (MIMO) transmitters. However, MIMO transmitters suffer from additional crosstalk impairments along with the power amplifier (PA) and I/Q imbalance distortions observed in single input single output (SISO) transmitters. 3. 3. Procedural and Declarative Memory in Children with Developmental Disorders of Language and Literacy

    Author : Martina Hedenius; Margareta Jennische; Jonas Persson; Michael T Ullman; Elena Plante; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : Specific Language Impairment; Developmental Dyslexia; Procedural memory; Declarative memory; Implicit sequence learning;

    Abstract : The procedural deficit hypothesis (PDH) posits that a range of language, cognitive and motor impairments associated with specific language impairment (SLI) and developmental dyslexia (DD) may be explained by an underlying domain-general dysfunction of the procedural memory system. In contrast, declarative memory is hypothesized to remain intact and to play a compensatory role in the two disorders. READ MORE

  4. 4. Neuropsychological assessment of cognitive function in posttramatic stress disorder: a study of Bosnian war veterans

    Author : Maida Koso; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Keywords : SAMHÄLLSVETENSKAP; SOCIAL SCIENCES; Posttraumatic stress disorder; cognitive functions; memory; attention;

    Abstract : The present work assessed cognitive functions, such as attention, memory, and cognitive flexibility, in 20 Bosnian men with combat-related PTSD, acquired during the Balkan war 1992-1996. Veterans with chronic PTSD were tested – 7 years after the end of the hostilities – with a battery consisting of the Sustained Attention to Response Task, the Hayling Sentence Completion Test, the Trail Making Test, the Rivermead Behavioural Memory Test and the Wechsler Adult Intelligence Scale (verbal part); two questionnaires – Alcohol Use Disorders Identification Test and the Posttraumatic Diagnostic Scale – were also administered. 5. 5. Behavior and cytogenesis following irradiation or isoflurane exposure to the developing brain

    Author : Niklas Karlsson; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; radiotherapy; isoflurane; anesthesia; hippocampus; neurogenesis; memory; learning; intellicage; dentate gyrus; trace fear conditioning; open field; object recognition;

    Abstract : In this thesis, the effects of an anesthetic agent, isoflurane, on the young brain and resulting behavioral effects were investigated. Anesthesia is commonly used in young children during surgery or other procedures associated with pain or discomfort. READ MORE
