26. Computational Multiscale Modeling of Pearlitic Steel
Abstract : The objective of this thesis is to investigate the possibilities to describe the mechanical behaviorof a pearlitic steel by using computational homogenization, or multiscale modeling. The proposed model contains three scales: the engineering macroscale, the mesoscale representing the colonies of the pearlite and the microscale containing the individual cementite lamellae and the ferrite matrix. 27. Multiscale Stochastic Simulation of Reaction-Transport Processes : Applications in Molecular Systems Biology
Abstract : Quantitative descriptions of reaction kinetics formulated at the stochastic mesoscopic level are frequently used to study various aspects of regulation and control in models of cellular control systems. For this type of systems, numerical simulation offers a variety of challenges caused by the high dimensionality of the problem and the multiscale properties often displayed by the biochemical model. 28. Neurocognitive modelling of human decision making
Abstract : A central issue related to climate change and the path to a low carbon society is how we can change our attitudes and associated behavioral patterns. This type of decisions is concerned with how complex systems can be dealt with, conceptually, psychologically, as well as socially. READ MORE

29. Regional and local surface ozone variations in relation to meteorological conditions in Sweden
Abstract : Air quality is strongly dependent on meteorological conditions. Atmospheric circulation encapsulates general information about local meteorological variables to some extent, and can serve as an explanatory variable for air quality at a regional or local scale. READ MORE

30. Dynamical aspects of coherent eddies in the North Atlantic Ocean : Insights from Satellite Observations
Abstract : Oceanic mesoscale eddies, often referred to as the “weather of the ocean”, have horizontal scales of O(10) − O(102) kilometers and timescales spanning days to months. These structures comprise a complex system of coherent eddies (meaning they retain their shape and structure over time and space), filaments, and spirals that influence the transport of heat, salt, and nutrients in the ocean.
