    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Medicine; Metabolic syndrome; dietary fatty acids; conjugated linoleic acid; insulin resistance; oxidative stress; inflammation; cardiovascular disease; dyslipidemia; abdominal obesity; type 2 diabetes; Medicin; Dermatology and venerology; clinical genetics; internal medicine; Dermatologi och venerologi; klinisk genetik; invärtesmedicin; Nutrition; näringslära;

    Abstract : The aim of this thesis was to investigate the metabolic effects of conjugated linoleic acid (CLA) in middle-aged men with the metabolic syndrome, a high-risk group for type 2 diabetes. CLA is a group of fatty acid isomers with antiobesity and antidiabetogenic effects in animals, and CLA is therefore used as a supplement in humans. READ MORE

  2. 2. Adipose markers of metabolic outcome after weight loss

    Author : Daniel Eriksson Hogling; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Keywords : ;

    Abstract : Adipose tissue is closely linked to metabolic disturbances in obesity. Bariatric surgery such as roux-en-Y gastric bypass (RYGB) remains the most effective treatment of obesity and obesity-related disease. READ MORE

  5. 5. Tenomodulin, serum amyloid A and the serum amyloid A receptor selenoprotein S – implications for metabolic disease

    Author : Maja Olsson; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Keywords : ;

    Abstract : Obesity and obesity-related metabolic diseases are associated with a low-grade inflammation, including slightly increased serum levels of the acute phase protein serum amyloid A (A-SAA). A-SAA is one amongst several adipose tissue (AT) produced proteins suggested to influence development of metabolic diseases. READ MORE
