  1. 1. Modeling Photofunctional Transition Metal Complexes

    Author : Iria Bolano Losada; NanoLund: Centre for Nanoscience; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; density functional theory; earth-abundant; molecular dynamics; quantum chemistry; photosensitizer; photophysics; photochemistry; solar fuels; solar energy conversion; transition metal complexes;

    Abstract : Transition metal complexes play a crucial role in solar energy conversion. These coordination compounds have promising applications in dye-sensitized solar cells and photocatalysis, with particular interest in solar fuel production. READ MORE

  2. 2. Catalytic Asymmetric Ketone and Alkene Reductions Using Transition Metal Complexes

    Author : Klas Källström; Pher Andersson; Per Arvidsson; Jonathan Williams; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : Organic chemistry; Catalytic; Asymmetric; Reductions; Ketones; Alkenes; Transition metal; Complexes; Organisk kemi;

    Abstract : This thesis contains seven papers dealing with iridium and ruthenium based catalytic asymmetric reductions, either of ketones into chiral alcohols, or olefins into chiral alkanes. The first part of the thesis describes how we have designed and evaluated new bicyclic ligands containing either N,S or N,N chelating atoms. READ MORE

  3. 3. Carbenes: The Gathering : Photophysics of Transition Metal Carbene Complexes

    Author : Nidhi Kaul; Leif Hammarström; James K. McCusker; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; photophysics; time-resolved spectroscopy; transition-metal complexes; Kemi med inriktning mot kemisk fysik; Chemistry with specialization in Chemical Physics;

    Abstract : This thesis explores the photophysics of some transition-metal complexes (TMCs) which utilize N-heterocyclic carbenes as ligands. After a historical interlude which traces the development of the broader field of transition metal complexes and their photophysical investigations, there is an overview of theoretical concepts and the spectroscopic methods employed. 4. 4. Metal-Organic Complexes at Surfaces

    Author : Cristina Isvoranu; Synkrotronljusfysik; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; x-ray absorption spectroscopy; x-ray photoelectron spectroscopy; bi-isonicotinic acid; oxalic acid; spin change; gas adsorption; metal-organic complex; iron phthalocyanine; scanning tunneling spectroscopy; resonant photoemission spectroscopy;

    Abstract : The adsorption of different metal-organic complexes at surfaces was investigated by spectroscopic techniques (x-ray photoemission spectroscopy, x-ray absorption spectroscopy, resonant photoemission spectroscopy) and by scanning tunnelling microscopy. The investigation methods are able to provide atomic scale information on the studied systems, which moreover originates from the top-most atomic layers in a sample, meaning that they are surface sensitive techniques. 5. 5. Asymmetric Hydrogenations of Imines, Vinyl Fluorides, Enol Phosphinates and Other Alkenes Using N,P-Ligated Iridium Complexes

    Author : Jarle Sidney Diesen; Pher G. Andersson; Kálmán J. Szabó; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Organic chemistry; Catalysis; Asymmetric; Hydrogenations; Reductions; Alkenes; Imines; Vinyl fluorides; Enolphosphinates; Transition metal; Complexes; Iridium; Organisk kemi; Chemistry; Kemi;

    Abstract : The research described in this thesis is directed toward the efficient, enantioselective synthesis of chiral products that have useful functionality. This goal was pursued through catalytic asymmetric hydrogenation, a reaction class that selectively introduces one or two stereocenters into a molecule in an atom-efficient step. READ MORE
