  1. 21. Magnesium ions stabilizing solid-state transition metal hydrides

    Author : Helen Blomqvist; Karl J Gross; Stockholms universitet; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Chemistry; Kemi; Structural Chemistry; strukturkemi;

    Abstract : This thesis is focused on hydrides containing first-row transition metal–hydrido complexes counterbalanced by magnesium. In particular, fundamental properties of the promising hydrogen storage material Mg2NiH4 have been studied. READ MORE

  2. 22. Computational Insights on Functional Materials for Clean Energy Storage : Modeling, Structure and Thermodynamics

    Author : Tanveer Hussain; Rajeev Ahuja; Caetano R. Miranda; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Density functional theory; Molecular dynamics; Hydrogen storage; Chemisorption; Physisorption; Functionalization; Physics with spec. in Atomic; Molecular and Condensed Matter Physics; Fysik med inriktning mot atom- molekyl- och kondenserande materiens fysik;

    Abstract : The exponential increase in the demands of world’s energy and the devastating effects of current fossil fuels based sources has forced us to reduce our dependence on the current sources as well as finding cleaner, cheaper and renewable alternates. Being abundant, efficient and renewable, hydrogen can be opted as the best possible replacement of the diminishing and harmful fossil fuels. READ MORE

    Abstract : Here, I present a theoretical study, based on non-equilibrium quantum statistical mechanics and on the non-equilibrium extension to the RKKY intveraction,where I investigate the emergence of magnetism at the atomic scale in adsorbed molecular complexes hosting localized spin moments, at the stake of being probed with scanning tunneling microscopy tip, and being driven by a temperature gradient and gated by an electric field. The scanning tunneling microscopy set up is modeled as a molecular junction with a magnetic molecule embedded within it, where the molecule consists in a set of electronic levels resembling the typical s-p orbitals of a metal hydride or an organometal, and a localized spin moment resembling the magnetic unit hosted by the latter and former type of molecules mentioned. 4. 24. Nanoplasmonic Alloy Hydrogen Sensors

    Author : Ferry Nugroho; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; indirect nanoplasmonic sensing; plasmonic sensors; hydrogen sensors; polymers; fiber optics; nanofabrication; localized surface plasmon resonance; alloy nanoparticles; carbon capture and storage; sensors; palladium;

    Abstract : The hydrogen economy proposes hydrogen gas as the main energy carrier thanks to its high energy density and the possibility to produce it in a sustainable way without CO2 emission. However, the wide flammability range of hydrogen-air mixtures dictates that hydrogen sensors will be a mandatory accessory to any appliance or vehicle fueled by hydrogen. READ MORE

  5. 25. Hydrometallurgical recovery of rare earth elements from flourescent lamp waste fractions

    Author : Cristian Tunsu; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
