1. Fundamentals of Polyethylene Composites for HVDC Cable Insulation – Interfaces and Charge Carriers
Abstract : Power transmission over long distances by using high voltage direct current (HVDC) cables is important for the transition from fossil energy to using renewable energy sources, e.g. wind, solar and water. READ MORE

2. Theoretical and Experimental Studies of Electrode and Electrolyte Processes in Industrial Electrosynthesis
Abstract : Heterogeneous electrocatalysis is the usage of solid materials to decrease the amount of energy needed to produce chemicals using electricity. It is of core importance for modern life, as it enables production of chemicals, such as chlorine gas and sodium chlorate, needed for e.g. materials and pharmaceuticals production. READ MORE

3. Window Layer Structures for Chalcopyrite Thin-Film Solar Cells
Abstract : This thesis aims to contribute to the development of improved window layer structures for chalcopyrite thin-film solar cells, with an emphasis on the buffer layer, to assist future reductions of the levelized cost of energy. This is realized by exploring the potential of existing materials and deposition processes, as well as developing new buffer layer processes based on atomic layer deposition (ALD). READ MORE

4. Selective oxidation over mixed oxide catalysts
Abstract : Since the metal oxide catalysts used in many chemical processes show very high selectivity for the products aimed at, both today and in the future, they play a key role in the environmentally and economically sustainable production of chemical intermediates. Two processes of this sort have been studied in the thesis: the ammoxidation of propane and propene over a Mo-V-Nb-Te-oxide catalyst and the selective oxidation of methanol over vanadium-based catalysts. 5. Dynamics of Spent Nuclear Fuel Dissolution : Impact of Catalysis, Matrix Composition and Time Evolution
Abstract : Worldwide, nuclear power produces a large portion of the electricity that we consume every day. While nuclear energy comes with certain advantages, waste originating from its use is of particular concern. READ MORE
