16. On the shrinkage of metals and its effect in solidification processing
Abstract : The shrinkage during solidification of aluminium and iron based alloys has been studied experimentally and theoretically. The determined shrinkage behaviour has been used in theoretical evaluation of shrinkage related phenomena during solidification. Air gap formation was experimentally studied in cylindrical moulds. 17. First-Principles Investigation of Bulk and Interfacial Properties of Cu-Co Binary System
Abstract : Due to the complex nature of phase interfaces, acquiring precise interfacial energies is usually a big challenge for both experimental measurements and computational modelings. In this thesis, we put forward an efficient route for assessing the temperature dependence of the interfacial energy using density functional theory (DFT). READ MORE

18. Investigations of the Kinetics of Reduction and Reduction/Carburization of NiO-WO3 Precursors
Abstract : Kinetic studies of reduction of the mixtures of NiO and WO3 having different Ni/(Ni+W) molar ratios in flowing hydrogen gas were investigated by means of Thermo Gravimetric Analysis (TGA), Fluidized Bed (FB) technique as well as Thermal diffusivity measurements under isothermal conditions. In the case of TGA, the reaction progress was monitored by mass loss, while evolved gas analysis by a gas chromatograph was the indicator of the reaction progress in the case of FB. READ MORE

19. Phase field modeling of precipitation reactions in miscibility gap systems
Abstract : As a backbone to the cutting tools and rock drilling industry, cemented carbides have been used widely due to their high hardness and wear resistance. Most commercially used cemented carbides contain a hard phase made of Tungsten carbide (WC) and a binder phase which is generally ductile. READ MORE
