1. Characterization of Impurities in Different Ferroalloys and Their Effects on the Inclusion Characteristics of Steels
Abstract : Ferroalloys have become increasingly important due to their indispensable role in steelmaking. As the performance requirements of steel materials increase, it is necessary to have a better understanding of the impact of impurities in ferroalloys on the steel cleanliness. READ MORE

2. Surface Vibrational and Electron Spectroscopy - Experiments and first-principle calculations
Abstract : This work deals with interpretation of experimental surface spectroscopic data with the aid of first-principle calculations. Surface infrared reflection-absorption spectra as well as spectra from the electron spectroscopic methods photoemission and X-ray absorption are considered. READ MORE

3. Oxidation of some Late Transition Metal Surfaces: Structural Studies from UHV to Atmospheric Pressure
Abstract : The oxidation of Rh, Pd and Pt is studied under conditions ranging from ultra high vacuum to ambient pressures, with emphasis on a complete understanding of the geometry of the various oxide structures found. The investigations use a combination of various experimental methods, including high resolution core level spectroscopy, low energy electron diffraction, surface x-ray diffraction and scanning tunneling microscopy, as well as density functional theory calculations. 4. Wet clutch tribology : friction characteristics in limited slip differentials
Abstract : In recent years, electronically controlled automotive transmission systems, where wet clutches are used as intelligent differentials, have appeared in the market. These applications impose great demands on the transmission fluids and friction materials used as well as on controllability and vibration preventive (anti-shudder) properties of the clutch systems. 5. Investigation of Coordination Modes of Organosulfur Ligands to osmium and Rhodium Carbonyl Clusters- Possible Relevance to Hydrodesulfurization Reactions
Abstract : The coordination and fundamental transformations of organosulfur compounds to polynuclear metal complexes has been studied as models for possible surface species in industrial HDS processes. Reactions between [Os3(CO)11(NCMe)] and various thiols have been studied by UV-Vis, IR and NMR spectroscopy and all experimental findings indicate that the reactions proceed via a two-step consecutive process involving the intermediate [Os3(CO)11(RSH)], which contains an agostic Os-H-S interaction, and which leads to the formation of the final product [Os3(CO)10(m-H)(m-SR)].
