  1. 11. Greenhouse Gas Dynamics in Ice-covered Lakes Across Spatial and Temporal Scales

    Author : Blaize Amber Denfeld; Gesa Weyhenmeyer; Kimberly Wickland; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : carbon cycle; climate change; cryosphere; carbon dioxide; methane; lakes; winter limnology; methane oxidation; nutrients; catchment; Limnologi; Limnology;

    Abstract : Lakes play a major role in the global carbon (C) cycle, despite making up a small area of earth’s surface. Lakes receive, transport and process sizable amounts of C, emitting a substantial amount of the greenhouse gases, carbon dioxide (CO2) and methane (CH4), into the atmosphere. READ MORE

  2. 12. The role of methane and hydrogen in a fossil-free Swedish transport sector

    Author : Mårten Larsson; Per Alvfors; Stefan Grönkvist; Max Åhman; KTH; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; renewable transport fuels; biogas; methane; hydrogen; electrofuels; pyrolysis; well to wheel; transport policy; energy policy; Chemical Engineering; Kemiteknik;

    Abstract : Drastic reductions of greenhouse gas emissions are required to limit the severe risks associated with a changing climate. One measure is to disrupt the fossil-fuel dependency in the transport sector, but it appears difficult and costly in comparison to other measures. READ MORE

  3. 13. Soil Organic Matter Dynamics and Methane Fluxes at the Forest – Tundra Ecotone in Fennoscandia

    Author : Sofie Sjögersten; Gaius Shaver; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : Decomposition; forest – tundra ecotone; environmental change; Fennoscandia; methane; soil organic matter; subarctic.; naturgeografi; Physical Geography;

    Abstract : This thesis presents results from several studies that have focused on the carbon and nutrient dynamics in soils at the forest – tundra ecotone in Fennoscandia. The main objectives of the study were: (i) to investigate the links between the physical environment, above-ground vegetation communities, soil carbon storage, nutrient status and the chemical composition of the soil organic matter (SOM), and (ii) to quantify trace gas fluxes (methane and carbon dioxide) between mesic soils and the atmosphere. 4. 14. Tuned acidity in zeotypes: A descriptor to unravel the direct conversion of methane to methanol

    Author : Simone Creci; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; methanol; MFI; zeolite; methane; catalysis; infrared spectroscopy; zeotype;

    Abstract : The catalyst's acidity is crucial in countless chemical reactions, and thus to tune this parameter means to take the lead on the desired catalytic reaction. Therefore, it is not surprising that zeolites have been used since decades as catalysts for their outstanding properties of solid acids. READ MORE
