    Abstract : The overall aim of the present thesis was to investigate experiences of living with multidrug-resistant bacteria (MDRB), using methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA) colonization as an illustration, and to develop and validate a tool to describe healthcare personnel’s attitudes towards patients with MDRB. A further objective was to study MRSA-colonized persons’ and healthcare personnel’s experiences of patient-professional interactions and responsibilities for infection prevention. READ MORE

  2. 7. Epidemiological and molecular biological studies of multi-resistant methicillin-susceptible Staphylococcus aureus

    Author : Maria Lindqvist; Anita Hällgren; Barbro Isaksson; Lennart E. Nilsson; Christina Åhrén; Linköpings universitet; []
    Keywords : ;

    Abstract : Antibiotic resistance is increasingly recognised as a major problem and threat. During the last decades Gram-positive bacteria in general, and methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA) in particular, have been in focus both concerning matters of antibiotic resistance and as pathogens causing health care-associated (nosocomial) infections. 3. 8. Prevention and control of methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus in equine hospitals in Sweden

    Author : Karin Bergström; Sveriges lantbruksuniversitet; Sveriges lantbruksuniversitet; []
    Keywords : LANTBRUKSVETENSKAPER; AGRICULTURAL SCIENCES;

    Abstract : Methicillin-resistant S. aureus (MRSA) was first described in 1961 and has since caused nosocomial infections and therapeutic limitations. In Sweden, the first finding of horses infected with MRSA was in 2008. Nosocomial spread of MRSA among horses is a hazard for the patients and those in contact with the animals. READ MORE

  4. 9. Bacterial infections in dogs with special reference to urinary tract infections, surgical site infections and methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus pseudintermedius

    Author : Ulrika Windahl; Sveriges lantbruksuniversitet; Sveriges lantbruksuniversitet; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; LANTBRUKSVETENSKAPER; AGRICULTURAL SCIENCES;

    Abstract : An increase in antimicrobial resistance in canine bacterial pathogens, including multidrug-resistance, has been reported worldwide. Increasing antimicrobial resistance is of concern, not only as it complicates therapy in dogs, but also as it is a public health problem when the pathogens are zoonotic, or the location of resistance genes enables transfer between bacteria of animal and human origin. 5. 10. Central line-associated bloodstream infection and application of high resolution melting to methicillin resistant Staphylococcus aureus and Shigella sonnei genotyping

    Author : Waleed Mazi; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Keywords : ;

    Abstract : Effective infection prevention and control hospital program is essential for prevention hospital associated infections (HAIs). Central line-associated bloodstream infection (CLABSI) is one of the major threating patients in intensive care units (ICUs). READ MORE
