  1. 1. Taken for Granted The Construction of Order in the Process of Library Management System Decision Making

    University dissertation from Institutionen Biblioteks- och informationsvetenskap/Bibliotekshögskolan Högskolan i Borås och Göteborgs universitet

    Author : Nasrine Olson; Högskolan i Borås.; Göteborgs universitet.; Gothenburg University.; [2010]
    Keywords : SAMHÄLLSVETENSKAP; SOCIAL SCIENCES; library management systems; system selection process; decision making; methodological symmetry; duality of structure; conceptual order; social order; Library Management Systems; System Selection Process within Libraries; Library System Procurement process; Consequences of Decision Making; Methodological Symmetry; Duality of Structure in Decision Making Process; Construction of Conceptual Order; Construction of Social Order;

    Abstract : This thesis is an empirically based, theoretical discussion of the process of decision making in relation to Library Management Systems (LMS). Although the conceptualization of the LMS decision process in rational terms, common in many LMS selection models, may be useful in different respects, here the process is viewed from a social constructivist stance. 2. 2. Analysis of Human Brain MRI Contributions to Regional Volume Studies

    University dissertation from Uppsala : Acta Universitatis Upsaliensis

    Author : Richard Nordenskjöld; Uppsala universitet.; [2014]
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; MRI; Brain; Volume; Hemisphere; Intracranial volume; Image analysis; Datoriserad bildanalys; Computerized Image Analysis;

    Abstract : Many disorders are associated with regional brain volumes. The analysis of these volumes from MR images often requires sequential processing steps such as localization and delineation. READ MORE

  3. 3. A computational approach to curvature sensing in lipid bilayers

    University dissertation from Stockholm : Department of Biochemistry and Biophysics, Stockholm University

    Author : Federico Elías-Wolff; Stockholms universitet.; [2018]
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; curvature sensing; membrane curvature; cardiolipin; amphipathic helix; symmetric multimers; lipid bilayer; molecular dynamics; Biophysics; biofysik;

    Abstract : Local curvature is a key driving force for spatial organization of cellular membranes, via a phenomenon known as membrane curvature sensing, where the binding energy of membrane associated macromolecules depends on the local membrane shape. However, the microscopic mechanisms of curvature sensing are not well understood. READ MORE

  4. 4. Primary reconstruction with implants in breast cancer: aspects of oncological safety and aesthetic outcome

    University dissertation from Stockholm : Karolinska Institutet, Dept of Molecular Medicine and Surgery

    Author : Catharina Eriksen; Karolinska Institutet.; Karolinska Institutet.; [2011]
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES;

    Abstract : Introduction: Despite the introduction of breast conserving surgery, in Sweden mastectomy is still annually recommended to 40–50 % (about 3000) of women with breast cancer. National guidelines state that, in the absence of contraindications, these women should be offered breast reconstruction. READ MORE

  5. 5. Disordered Icosahedral Boron-Rich Solids A Theoretical Study of Thermodynamic Stability and Properties

    University dissertation from Linköping : Linköping University Electronic Press

    Author : Annop Ektarawong; Linköpings universitet.; Linköpings universitet.; [2017]
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Icosahedral boron-rich solids; Boron carbide; Configurational disorder; First-principles calculations; Thermodynamic stability; Superatom-special quasirandom structure;

    Abstract : This thesis is a theoretical study of configurational disorder in icosahedral boron-rich solids, in particular boron carbide, including also the development of a methodological framework for treating configurational disorder in such materials, namely superatom-special quasirandom structure (SA-SQS). In terms of its practical implementations, the SA-SQS method is demonstrated to be capable of efficiently modeling configurational disorder in icosahedral boron-rich solids, whiles the thermodynamic stability as well as the properties of the configurationally disordered icosahedral boron-rich solids, modeled from the SA-SQS method, can be directly investigated, using the density functional theory (DFT).
