  2. 2. Residential biomass combustion - emissions of organic compounds to air from wood pellets and other new alternatives

    Author : Maria Olsson; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Burning; methoxy¬phenol; benzene; stove; ecolabel; oats; wheat straw; firewood; boiler; hydrocarbon; smoke; peat;

    Abstract : It is important to increase the use of biofuels for residential heating in order to decrease the use of fossil fuels and their impact on global warming. The smoke from the combustion of biomass contains a large number of compounds, which to varying degrees can affect the environment and human health. READ MORE

  3. 3. Partial Oxidation of Methane over Functionalised Zeolites and Zeotypes

    Author : Xueting Wang; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; FTIR; Heterogeneous catalysis; Copper boron silicate; Zeolite; Natural gas; Biogas; Green methanol; zeotype; Temperature-programmed desorption; Cu-SSZ-13; Cu-ZSM-5; In situ infrared spectroscopy;

    Abstract : Partial oxidation of methane to methanol is an industrially important process that allows natural gas and biogas to be utilised for methanol-based production of chemicals or converted to liquid methanol fuel, which make transportation more facile. In this thesis, the activity for partial oxidation of methane to methanol over copper functionalised zeolites and silica supported copper is investigated using a three-step quasi-catalytic approach including catalyst activation, methane reaction and methanol extraction by water. 4. 4. Impact of Secondary Interactions in Asymmetric Catalysis

    Author : Anders Frölander; Christina Moberg; Gerard van Koten; KTH; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; asymmetric catalysis; secondary interaction; hydrogen bond; chiral ligand; allylic alkylation; hydrosilylation; cyanation; pymox; box; PHOX; pybox; palladium; iridium; rhodium; Lewis acid; Lewis base; Organic chemistry; Organisk kemi;

    Abstract : This thesis deals with secondary interactions in asymmetric catalysis and their impact on the outcome of catalytic reactions. The first part revolves around the metal-catalyzed asymmetric allylic alkylation reaction and how interactions within the catalyst affect the stereochemistry. READ MORE
