1. Ribosomal RNA Modification Enzymes : Structural and functional studies of two methyltransferases for 23S rRNA modification in Escherichia coli
Abstract : Escherichia coli ribosomal RNA (rRNA) is post-transcriptionally modified by site-specific enzymes. The role of most modifications is not known and little is known about how these enzymes recognize their target substrates. READ MORE

2. Genomic DNA methylation in health and disease
Abstract : Cytosine methylation is one of the important epigenetic mechanisms controlling the vertebrate genome. Changes in genomic DNA methylation have been demonstrated in aging, auto-immune diseases and cancer. READ MORE

3. A structural genomics pilot project : methods and applications
Abstract : With the availability of many completely sequenced genomes, scientific research has shifted from genes to the products of the genes, the proteins. Structural genomics groups have been established worldwide, with the objective of determining protein structures on a genome-wide scale. READ MORE

4. Factors influencing the metabolism of inorganic arsenic in humans
Abstract : Inorganic arsenic (iAs), a naturally occurring drinking water contaminant, is a potent human carcinogen and toxicant. It is believed that in humans, as well as in most mammals, inorganic arsenic is biotransformed via reduction and methylation using one-carbon metabolism with S-adenosyl methionine (SAM) as methyl donor, and is excreted mainly in urine as dimethylarsinate (DMA) and methylarsonate (MA) as well as some unmethylated iAs (arsenate (As(V)) and arsenite (As(III)). 5. HCMV-induced epigenetic alterations : a novel pathway to CNS tumors?
Abstract : Aberrant DNA hypermethylation at CpG islands is a well-established phenomenon involved in transcriptional silencing of tumor suppressor genes. CpG island hypomethylation-mediated reactivation of oncogenes is also documented in several cancer types. READ MORE
