  1. 6. Realistic Package Opening Simulations : An Experimental Mechanics and Physics Based Approach

    Author : Eskil Andreasson; Blekinge Tekniska Högskola; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Polymer; aluminium foil; semi-crystalline; progressive damage; Abaqus;

    Abstract : A finite element modeling strategy targeting package opening simulations is the final goal with this work. The developed simulation model will be used to proactively predict the opening compatibility early in the development process of a new opening device and/or a new packaging material. READ MORE

  2. 7. Influence of surface roughness on rolling contact fatigue considering thermal elastohydrodynamic lubrication effects : Due to Corona it is not possible to attend this defense in person, instead attend via this link: https://play.kth.se/media/0_omfsppe6

    Author : Carl-Magnus Everitt; Bo Alfredsson; Andreas Almqvist; KTH; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Contact mechanics; Rolling contact fatigue; Pitting; Spalling; Slip; Thermal elastohydrodynamic.; Kontaktmekanik; Rullande kontaktutmattning; Pitting; Glidning; Termisk elastohydrodynamik.; Hållfasthetslära; Solid Mechanics;

    Abstract : Rolling contacts are utilized in many technical applications, both in bearings and in the contacts between gear teeth. These components are subjected to high loads in many of their applications. The high loads causes very high contact pressures which may cause rolling contact fatigue, often denoted as pitting or spalling. READ MORE

  3. 8. Micro-structural based acoustic modelling of anisotropic open cell materials

    Author : Eva Lundberg; Huina Mao; Bradley Semeniuk; Peter Göransson; Mathieu Gaborit; Romain Rumpler; Peter Göransson; Elke Deckers; KTH; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; sound absorption; vehicle; anisotropic; foam; micro-structure; resource efficient; transfer matrix method; ljudabsorption; anisotrop; skum; mikrostruktur; TMM; fordon; resurseffektiv; Farkostteknik; Vehicle and Maritime Engineering;

    Abstract : A method for the calculation of the acoustic performance of open-cell foammaterials is discussed. From a known micro-structural geometry and theconstituent material, the relevant acoustic properties are computed using apreviously published analytical method for the calculation of the dynamicdrag impedance and a previously published method for the calculation of theelastic moduli. 4. 9. Experimental investigation of snow metamorphism at near-surface layers

    Author : Lavan Kumar Eppanapelli; Mikael Sjödahl; Johan Casselgren; Arne Instanes; Luleå tekniska universitet; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Snow metamorphism; NIR reflectance; Snow and Ice; Radiative transfer equation; Paramterization; Snow properties; Tomography; Snow microstructure; Experimentell mekanik; Experimental Mechanics;

    Abstract : Snow metamorphism is a direct objective in many snow research areas, and its charac-terisation is a major challenge in areas including winter road maintenance, detection of icing on wind turbine blades, and snow quality mapping for skiing. A common effect of snow metamorphism is compaction, which can be investigated from the associated vari-ations in physical properties of snow. READ MORE

  5. 10. Mechanical Behaviour of Adhesive Layers : Methods to Extract Peel and Mixed Mode Properties

    Author : Tobias Andersson; Högskolan i Skövde; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Engineering mechanics; Teknisk mekanik; Teknik; Technology;

    Abstract : Mechanical Behaviour of Adhesive Layers Methods to Extract Peel and Mixed Mode Properties TOBIAS ANDERSSON Department of Applied Mechanics Chalmers University of Technology ABSTRACT This thesis is concerned with methods to extract material properties of thin adhesive layers loaded in peel and in mixed mode. The first part of the thesis is devoted to an experimental method to determine the complete stress-elongation relation (or cohesive law) for an adhesive layer loaded in peel using the DCB-specimen.
