  1. 1. Airway mechanics of mice and men

    Author : Lennart Lundblad; Malmö Klinisk fysiologi och nuklearmedicin; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Fysiologi; radiologi; tomografi; tomography; medical instrumentation; Clinical physics; Medicin människa och djur ; Medicine human and vertebrates ; Penh; emphysema; airway resistance; gas conditioning; plethysmography; lung mechanics; Boyle s law; Physiology; medicinsk instrumentering; Klinisk fysiologi; radiology; enhanced pause; pulmonary fibrosis; micro computed tomography; forced oscillation technique; COPD;

    Abstract : In this thesis we explore and further develop several techniques used in the animal laboratory as well as in the clinical setting. In particular, we expand the understanding and usefulness of plethysmographic techniques in small rodents. READ MORE

  2. 2. Cariological Studies on Endodontically Treated Teeth

    Author : Khalid Merdad; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Caries risk; Caries susceptibility; Cariogram; Endodontic treatment; Jönköping; Sweden; Micro-CT; Recurrent caries; Saudi Arabia;

    Abstract : Caries might jeopardize the long-term successful outcome of endodontic therapy. Therefore, it is of an interest for the endodontist to evaluate caries susceptibility of root-filled teeth (RFT). In the present thesis, several studies were conducted to explore this relationship. 3. 3. How the sensory ecology of the bumblebee affects their functional traits

    Author : Vun Wen Jie; Emily Baird; Mikael Carlsson; Martin How; Stockholms universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Bumblebee; functional morphological traits; intraspecific differences; allometry; DRA; micro-CT; co-existence; Functional Zoomorphology; funktionell zoomorfologi;

    Abstract : Morphological traits are important for trait-based ecological studies as they allow for the prediction of biodiversity across the biosphere. Currently, the predictive power of trait-based ecology is not often applied to terrestrial arthropods, even though they provide us with important agricultural, ecological, and cultural value. Abstract : Throughout the last century, medical imaging has come to revolutionise the way we diagnose disease, and is today an indispensable part of virtually any clinical practice. In cardiovascular care imaging is extensively utilised, and the development of novel techniques promises refined diagnostic abilities: ultrasound elastography allows for constitutive tissue assessment, 4D flow magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) enables full-field flow mapping, and micro-Computed Tomography (CT) permits high-resolution imaging at pre-clinical level.
