11. On the influence of biochemical coating on implant bone incorporation
READ MORE

12. Image Analysis for Trabecular Bone Properties on Cone-Beam CT Data
Abstract : Trabecular bone structure as well as bone mineral density (BMD) have impact on the biomechanical competence of bone. In osteoporosis-related fractures, there have been shown to exist disconnections in the trabecular network as well as low bone mineral density. Imaging of bone parameters is therefore of importance in detecting osteoporosis. READ MORE

13. Molar Incisor Hypomineralization
Abstract : Overall aim: The general objective of this thesis was to enhance the understanding of Molar Incisor Hypomineralization (MIH) in areas of the histological, chemical and mechanical properties of the hypomineralized enamel, objective and subjective clinical symptoms in relation to bacteria findings. Further, to estimate a time for onset of the disturbance and investigate possible etiological factors. READ MORE

14. X-ray and neutron μCT of biomedical samples: from image acquisition to quantification
Abstract : Even though the validity of x-ray computed tomography in the analysis of biomedical samples is nowadays undisputed, the more recent imaging techniques and more advanced instruments (such as synchrotrons) are still relatively unknown to many medical doctors that could benefit from them. The doctoral work presented in this thesis joins a collective effort from the imaging community to demonstrate potential applications of advanced x-ray and neutron imaging methods to preclinical medical research, with the hope of contributing to reach a “critical mass” in the medical community and in the public opinion as well. 15. Structure and Mechanical Behaviour of Wood-Fibre Composites
Abstract : Wood fibres have several advantages compared to man-made synthetic fibres: they have high specific stiffness, are renewable, relatively inexpensive, available in industrial quantities and biodegradable. However, to increase and diversify their utilisation, it is necessary to increase the understanding on what controls their mechanical properties. READ MORE
