  1. 1. Deregulation and editing of microRNAs in metastatic prostate cancer

    Author : Gjendine Voss; Avdelningen för translationell cancerforskning; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; prostate cancer; bone metastasis; microRNA; RNA editing; A-to-I editing; ADAR; miR-96; miR-379;

    Abstract : Prostate cancer bone metastasis is still not fully understood, and increased knowledge could aid in the development of better treatment options for patients in the future. This thesis focuses on microRNAs (miRNAs), which modulate gene expression in healthy and tumour cells. READ MORE

  2. 2. Diversifying the transcriptome : Adenosine-to-inosine RNA editing in the mammalian brain

    Author : Albin Widmark; Neus Visa; Joshua Rosenthal; Stockholms universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; RNA editing; ADAR; microRNA; brain development; neuron; molekylär biovetenskap; Molecular Bioscience;

    Abstract : Metazoan transcriptomes are extensively modified by adenosine-to-inosine (A-to-I) RNA editing, a process by which adenosines within double-stranded RNA are enzymatically deaminated to form inosines. Inosines has base-pairing characteristics similar to guanosine, meaning that A-to-I RNA editing results in functional rewriting of transcripts, affecting many biological processes. READ MORE

  3. 3. Computational Modeling of Cancer Progression

    Author : Hossein Shahrabi Farahani; Jens Lagergren; Niko Beerenwinkel; KTH; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Cancer progression; Bayesian networks; microRNA editing; SRA - Molekylär biovetenskap; SRA - Molecular Bioscience;

    Abstract : Cancer is a multi-stage process resulting from accumulation of genetic mutations. Data obtained from assaying a tumor only contains the set of mutations in the tumor and lacks information about their temporal order. Learning the chronological order of the genetic mutations is an important step towards understanding the disease. READ MORE

  4. 4. Studies on natural antisense RNAs and microRNAs

    Author : Omid Reza Faridani; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Keywords : ;

    Abstract : Regulatory RNAs are found in all kingdoms of life and involved in regulation of gene expression at various steps including RNA splicing, editing, stability, modification, export, translation and chromatin remodelling. A large number of regulatory RNAs have been described recently. READ MORE
