21. Monitoring of Cellular Dynamics with Focus on Electrochemical Detection Techniques
Abstract : This thesis presents work in two main areas of focus, the development of electroanalytical techniques to monitor the dynamics of cellular processes as well as design and fabrication of microelectrode chips for electrochemical detection as well as a prototype microfluidic system to be used for cell analysis and culturing. The electrochemically monitored cellular parameters were the cellular redox environment (CRE), cell adhesion and exocytosis. READ MORE

22. Development and Investigations of Novel Sample Preparation Techniques : Electrochemical Extraction and Evaluation of Miniaturized Analytical Devices Coupled to Mass Spectrometry
Abstract : Different sample preparation steps prior to a detection method are often essential in analytical chemistry. In this thesis, both static extractions and on-line coupled solid-phase extractions have been studied in combination with different detection techniques. READ MORE

23. On optical methods for intracerebral measurements during stereotactic and functional neurosurgery : Experimental studies
Abstract : Radio frequency (RF) lesioning and deep brain stimulation (DBS) are the two prevailing surgical treatments for movement disorders within the field of stereotactic and functional neurosurgery. For RF-lesioning, a small volume of brain tissue is coagulated and knowledge of the lesion size and growth is of great importance for the safety and outcome of the procedure. READ MORE

24. Novel technologies for studies of structural and functional connections
Abstract : To understand the mechanisms underlying the correct functioning of an organ it is important to study its architecture and how the interactions between cells are leading to a specific function. Specifically, the connections that form in the brain are related to the pattern of activation that neurons have, and can help to understand what is the function of each region. READ MORE

25. Electrodeposition of Ag/Co and Au/Co compositionally modulated thin films and nanowire arrays
Abstract : In the past decade, electrochemical synthesis of metallic nanowires within the pores of porous membranes have attracted considerable attention because of their special optical, electronic, and magnetic properties as well as potential for nanotechnological applications. The concept of using membranes as a template for fabrication of metallic nanowires by electrodeposition is considered as an alternative solution to overcome the difficulty of fabricating fibrils with very small diameters by lithographic methods.
