  1. 1. Polymer Microoptics in Silicon Micromachining

    Author : Karin Hedsten; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; MOEMS; amorphous fluorocarbon polymer; polymer microlens; silicon micromachining; replication; refractive lenses; diffractive optics; MEMS; Cytop™; transmissive microoptics; reflow;

    Abstract : MEMS (micro-electro-mechanical system) technology is an established field, which makes use of the advanced state of silicon processing to fabricate complex electro-mechanical structures and devices. Microoptics is a new, but advanced technology within the field of optics. READ MORE

  2. 2. Diamond Microfabrication for Applications in Optics and Chemical Sensing

    Author : Pontus Forsberg; Mikael Karlsson; Christoph Nebel; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; diamond; microfabrication; microoptics; coronagraph; waveguide; microelectrodes; superhydrophobic; Teknisk fysik med inriktning mot mikrosystemteknik; Engineering Science with specialization in Microsystems Technology;

    Abstract : Diamond is a material with many exceptional properties. In this thesis methods for fabrication of microstructures as well as several applications of such structures in optics, microfluidics and electrochemistry are presented.A method for etching deep and highly precise gratings is described. 3. 3. Microfabrication of Optical Components in Synthetic Diamond : Infrared Optics for Applications  in Astronomy and Spectroscopy

    Author : Ernesto Vargas Catalan; Mikael Karlsson; Thomas Schuelke; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : Diamond; microfabrication; microoptics; astronomy; IR-spectroscopy; corongraph; waveguide;

    Abstract : Infrared optics is a broad general term, relevant to a range of fields. The manufactured diamond optical components utilized within this thesis were applied to both astronomy, in which direct imaging of star system using large ground-based telescopes and diamond coronagraphs was performed, and in absorption spectroscopy probing solvents and proteins using a tuneable quantum cascade laser and diamond waveguides.
