2. Tissue Factor Biological Functions : Coagulation Activity in Microparticles and Signaling with Focus On Migration and Apoptosis
Abstract : Background: Tissue factor (TF) is a 47 kDa transmembrane glycoprotein known as the main initiator of blood coagulation. TF is over-expressed on many malignant cells and apart from increasing the risk of thrombosis, the presence of TF/FVIIa also promotes the progression of cancer and metastasis by intracellular signaling. 3. Starch Microparticles as an Oral Vaccine Adjuvant with Emphasis on the Differentiation of the Immune Response
Abstract : Polyacryl starch microparticles have been developed as an oral vaccine adjuvant capable of inducing strong local and systemic immune responses in mice. In this thesis, the starch microparticles were studied in order to increase basic understanding of their function. READ MORE

4. Vitamin K-dependent protein S - studies of synthesis, structure and function
Abstract : This thesis is based on four projects with the overall aim to investigate vitamin K-dependent protein S functions in relation to its structure. The anticoagulant functions of protein S can be divided in three: 1) cofactor for activated protein C (APC), 2) cofactor for tissue factor pathway inhibitor (TFPI) and 3) APC and TFPI-independent anticoagulant functions. 5. Development of a New Oral Vaccine against Diphtheria and the Study of its Immunogenicity in Mouse and Man
Abstract : Most pathogens enter the body via mucosal surfaces. In contrast to parenterally administered vaccination, mucosal vaccination has the advantage of eliciting both a systemic and a local mucosal immune response. An oral biodegradable adjuvant with these features would have great potential. READ MORE
