  1. 1. Gap waveguide for packaging microstrip filters & investigation of transitions from planar technologies to ridge gap waveguide

    Author : Astrid Algaba Brazalez; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; parallel plate mode; coupled line filter; microstrip circuit; packaging; Artificial magnetic conductor AMC ; perfect magnetic conductor PMC ; gap waveguide; transition.; coplanar waveguide CPW ;

    Abstract : Gap waveguide technology has proved to constitute an effective alternative for the design of microwave passive components, due to its advantages with respect to traditional planar technologies and standard waveguides. There is no requirement for conductive contact between the two different metal pieces making up a gap waveguide prototype, since one of these pieces makes use of a textured surface that eliminates any possible leakage of the field through the gap to the surface of the other metal piece above it. 2. 2. Analysis of Conformal Antennas and Periodic Structures

    Author : Silvia Raffaelli; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; method of moments; microstrip; corrugated surface; horn; Floquet; array; periodic; multilayer structure; finite difference time domain; dual-frequency; infinite; spectral domain analysis; conformal antenna;

    Abstract : In the last decades much attention has been paid to the design of high-performance antennas. Accurate control of the radiation properties is very important in electromagnetic engineering applications. READ MORE

  3. 3. High Temperature Superconducting and Tunable Ferroelectric Microwave Devices

    Author : Erik F. Carlsson; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; varactors; tunable microwave circuits; conformal mapping; cryogenic probe station; ferroelectrics; high temperature superconductors; microwave circuits; narrow-band filters; phase-shifter;

    Abstract : This thesis addresses some applications of High Temperature Superconductors (HTS) and ferroelectric materials in tunable microwave devices and circuits. The work is divided into three main areas: i) modeling of multilayered structures including ferroelectric layers, ii) realization and characterization of tunable coplanar waveguides (CPW), capacitors and resonators based on ferroelectrics, and iii) an investigation of microstrip HTS K-band filters. Abstract : The main focus of this thesis is placed on high frequency PCB signal Integrity Is-sues and RF/Microwave filters using EBG structures. From the signal Integrity aspect, two topics were mainly discussed. READ MORE

  5. 5. Design and Fabrication of Ultra-Wideband Bandpass Filter Based on Liquid Crystal Polymer Substrates

    Author : Xia Zhang; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Bandpass filter; Automotive radar systems; Liquid crystal polymer substrate; Ring-resonator theory; Ultra-wideband; Millimeter wave;

    Abstract : For millimeter (mm)-wave systems’ applications, as frequency is moving towards higher and higher bands, materials and integration technologies are witnessing higher performance demands and consequently higher constraints. From a material’s point of view, the selection of substrate material has recently drawn considerable attention in the design of the whole mm-wave system. READ MORE
