  1. 1. Rheocasting of Aluminium Alloys : Slurry Formation, Microstructure, and Properties

    Author : Mostafa Payandeh; A. E. W. Jarfors; Torbjörn Carlberg; Jönköping University; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; SSM Casting; aluminium alloy; RheoMetalTM process; microstructure; physical and mechanical properties;

    Abstract : Innovative materials with novel properties are in great demand for use in the criticalcomponents of emerging technologies, which promise to be more cost-effective and energyefficient.A controversial issue with regard to manufacturing complex industrial products isto develop advanced materials with optimised manufacturability in addition to the requiredmechanical and physical properties. 2. 2. Microstructure Formation and Mechanical Properties in Compacted Graphite Iron

    Author : Mathias König; Ingvar L. Svensson; Magnus Wessén; Torsten Sjögren; Jönköping University; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Cast iron; CGI; Microstructure formation; Mechanical properties;

    Abstract : Compacted graphite iron is rapidly becoming an attractive alternative for engine applications in the automotive industry. The improved process control now available that allows CGI components to be cast in a reproducible and reliable way has been the driving force for this development. READ MORE

  3. 3. The influence of Al alloy microstructure on conversion coating formation

    Author : Salil Sainis; Caterina Zanella; Ehsan Ghassemali; Jönköping University; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; aluminium alloys; cast Al-Si alloys; conversion coating treatment; cerium; localized deposition; surface pre-treatments; microstructure; SEM; FIB-SEM; AFM-SKPFM; aluminiumlegeringar; gjutna Al-Si legeringar; omvandlingsbeläggningar; cerium; lokaliserad deposition; ytförbehandlingar; microstruktur SEM; FIB-SEM; AFM-SKPFM;

    Abstract : The formation of conversion coatings based on Ce, trivalent Cr and Ti/Zr is triggered by the local pH increase at cathodic IM sites of the aluminium alloy microstructure. The pH gradient is created over the cathodic intermetallic (IM) sites of the microstructure and its intensity is influenced by their activity which depends on their chemical composition, their size, and spatial distribution. 4. 4. Cathodic Arc Synthesis of Ti-Si-C-N Thin Films : Plasma Analysis and Microstructure Formation

    Author : Anders Eriksson; Johanna Rosén; Lars Hultman; Arutiun Ehiasarian; Linköpings universitet; []
    Keywords : ;

    Abstract : This Thesis explores the arc deposition process and films of Ti-Si-C-N, inspired by the two ternary systems Ti-Si-N and Ti-C-N, both successfully applied as corrosion and wear resistant films. The correlation between cathode, plasma, and film properties are studied for a comprehensive view on film formation. READ MORE

  5. 5. Interaction of water with supplementary cementitious materials: Hydration mechanism, microstructure and moisture transport

    Author : Liming Huang; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
