  1. 1. High performing cast aluminium-silicon alloys

    Author : Martin Riestra; Salem Seifeddine; Ehsan Ghassemali; Jessica Elfsberg; Högskolan i Jönköping; []
    Keywords : ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Aluminium cast alloys; melt quality; eutectic modification; grain refinement; microstructure; tensile properties;

    Abstract : The need to produce lighter components due to environmental aspects and the development of electrical vehicles represents an opportunity for cast aluminium-silicon alloys. With high specific strength, good castability, high corrosion resistance and recyclability, these alloys offer an attractive combination of properties as an alternative to steel, cast iron and titanium-based components in certain applications. 2. 2. Microstructure model for Ti-6Al-4V used in simulation of additive manufacturing

    Author : Corinne Charles Murgau; Lars-Erik Lindgren; Niklas Järvstråt; Robert Pederson; Sören Sjöström; Corinne Charles; Högskolan Väst; []
    Keywords : ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; Titanium alloy; Ti-6Al-4V; Welding; Metal deposition; Additive manufacturing; Wire feed; Finite Element Method; Microstructure model; Johnson-Mehl-Avrami- Kolmogorov; Thermally driven; Production Technology; Produktionsteknik; Manufacturing and materials engineering; Produktions- och materialteknik; Material Mechanics; Materialmekanik;

    Abstract : This thesis is devoted to microstructure modelling of Ti-6Al-4V. The microstructure and the mechanical properties of titanium alloys are highly dependent on the temperature history experienced by the material. The developed microstructure model accounts for thermaldriving forces and is applicable for general temperature histories. READ MORE

  3. 3. Microstructure and Thermal Conductivity of Liquid Feedstock Plasma Sprayed Thermal Barrier Coatings

    Author : Ashish Ganvir; Nicolaie Markocsan; Per Nylén; Ru Lin Peng; Högskolan Väst; []
    Keywords : ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Microstructure; Thermal Barrier Coating; Axial Injection; Suspension Plasma Spraying; Suspension High Velocity Oxy Fuel Spraying; Solution Precursor Plasma Spraying; Porosity; Thermal Diffusivity; Thermal Conductivity; Production Technology; Produktionsteknik; Manufacturing and materials engineering; Produktions- och materialteknik;

    Abstract : Thermal barrier coating (TBC) systems are widely used on gas turbine components to provide thermal insulation and oxidation protection. TBCs, incombination with advanced cooling, can enable the gas turbine to operate at significantly higher temperatures even above the melting temperature of the metallic materials. READ MORE

  4. 4. Cathodic arc deposition process

    Author : Muhammad Bilal Syed; Magnus Odén; Jianqiang Zhu; Lars Hultman; Zdeněk Hubička; Linköpings universitet; []
    Keywords : ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY;

    Abstract : This thesis aims to expand the knowledge of fundamental mechanisms that govern the cathodic arc process. The first part of this thesis explores and explains the correlations between a rather unexplored process parameter (i.e. cathode microstructure) and the microstructure of the coatings. READ MORE

  5. 5. Tool steel for tool holder applications : microstructure and mechanical properties

    Author : Anna Medvedeva; Jens Bergström; Birger Karlsson; Karlstads universitet; []
    Keywords : ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; tool steel; tool holder; microstructure; mechanical properties; machinability; Materials science; Teknisk materialvetenskap;

    Abstract : Large improvements in cutting tool design and technology, including the application of advanced surface engineering treatments on the cemented carbide insert, have been achieved in the last decades to enhance tool performance. However, the problem of improving the tool body material is not adequately studied. READ MORE
