  1. 1. Tunable superconducting resonators, subharmonic oscillations and manipulation of microwaves

    Author : Ida-Maria Svensson; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; circuit-QED; tunable superconducting resonators; subharmonic oscillations; parametric oscillations; microwave manipulation; frequency down-conversion; driven nonlinear systems; superconducting resonator; SQUID; tunable resonator;

    Abstract : In this thesis I present different types of manipulations of microwave fields using tunable superconducting resonators. A resonator is made tunable by adding one or more superconducting quantum interference devices, SQUIDs. The SQUID consists of a superconducting loop with two Josephson junctions and acts as a tunable nonlinear inductor. READ MORE

  2. 2. On Some Properties and Applications of Patterned Ferromagnetic Thin Films

    Author : Pierre E. Roy; Peter Svedlindh; Per Nordblad; Jeffrey McCord; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Materials science; micromagnetics; vortex; spin dynamics; domains; MFM; microwave; patterned; permalloy; Materialvetenskap; Materials science; Teknisk materialvetenskap;

    Abstract : A microwave reflection method has been used to measure the spin excitations corresponding to the translational mode of magnetic vortices in samples containing either one or two vortices. Experimental findings are complemented by micromagnetic simulations. One-vortex systems are investigated in micron-sized circular and elliptical cylinders. READ MORE

  3. 3. Fabrication of Electroacoustic Devices for Integrated Applications

    Author : Johannes Enlund; Ilia Katardjiev; Jörgen Olsson; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Engineering physics; Teknisk fysik; Elektronik; Electronics;

    Abstract : Electroacoustic technology has in many ways revolutionised the wireless telecommunication industry. The IC compatible fabrication technique of thin film electroacoustic devices has so far provided a considerable increase in device performance and reduction in size. At the moment, new areas where this technology can be of use is under investigation. READ MORE

  4. 4. Carbon-Carbon Bond Formation via Radical Cyclization and Transition Metal Catalysis

    Author : Puneet Srivastava; Lars Engman; Ullrich Jahn; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Radical cyclizations; transition metal catalysis; Chemistry; Kemi; Chemistry with specialization in Organic Chemistry; Kemi med inriktning mot organisk kemi;

    Abstract : Free radical cyclization methodology has been used extensively in synthesis for manipulation of complex molecules such as alkaloids, terpenes, carbohydrates, peptides and nucleic acids. The methodology has emerged as a result of work by physical organic chemists who determined rate constants for the most common radical reactions used in organic synthesis. READ MORE

  5. 5. Spin momentum transfer effects for spintronic device applications

    Author : Yan Zhou; Johan Åkerman; Daniel E. Bürgler; KTH; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Spin Torque Oscillator; Giant Magnetoresistance; Tunneling Magnetoresistance; Magnetism; Magnetism;

    Abstract : The recent discovery that a spin-polarized current can exert a large torque on a ferromagnet, through direct transfer of spin angular momentum, offers the possibility of electrical current controlled manipulation of magnetic moment in nanoscale magnetic device structures. This so-called spin torque effect holds great promise for two applications, namely, spin torque oscillators (STOs) for wireless communication and radar communication, and spin transfer torque RAM (STT-RAM) for data/information storage.
