  1. 6. Microwave dressing of a trapped strontium Rydberg ion

    Author : Fabian Pokorny; Stockholms universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; fysik; Physics;

    Abstract : Trapped Rydberg ions are a novel platform for quantum technologies, envisaged to combine the excellent control of trapped ions with the strong interactions found in neutral Rydberg atom systems. While in recent years trapped ions have been coherently excited to Rydberg states and were shown to be stable in the trapping field, strongly interacting trapped Rydberg ions have yet to be realized. 2. 7. Sensing Atmospheric Water Vapor Using Radio Waves: Studies of the 2, 3 and 4-D Structure of the Atmospheric Water Vapor Using Ground-based Radio Techniques Comprising the Global Positioning System, Microwave Radiometry and Very Long Baseline Interferometry

    Author : Lubomir Gradinarsky; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; microwave radiometry; global positioning system GPS ; water vapor; tomography; meteorology; propagation delay; delay gradients; climate;

    Abstract : The radio wave propagation time, the primary observable in the geodetic techniques Global Positioning System (GPS) and Very Long Baseline Interferometry (VLBI) is affected by the presence of the atmospheric gases. By using appropriate modeling in the post-processing of the recorded phase measurements, together with local meteorological information, it is possible to estimate the total amount of atmospheric water vapor. 3. 8. Processing and On-Wafer Test of Ferroelectric Film Microwave Varactors

    Author : Jang-Yong Kim; Alexander Grishin; Dag Winkler; KTH; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; : ferroelectrics; sodium potassium niobates; silver tantalite niobate; barium strontium titanate; thin films; pulsed laser deposition; rf magnetron sputtering; coplanar waveguide; photolithography; Electrical engineering; electronics and photonics; Elektroteknik; elektronik och fotonik;

    Abstract : Microwave materials have been widely used in a variety of applications ranging from communication devices to military satellite services, and the study of materials properties at microwave frequencies and the development of functional microwave materials have always been among the most active areas in solid-state physics, materials science, electrical and electronic engineering. In recent years, the increasing requirements for the development of high speed, high frequency circuits and systems require complete understanding of the properties of materials function at microwave frequencies. 4. 9. Synthesis and Applications of Dynamic Multivalent Nanostructures

    Author : Kitjanit Neranon; Olof Ramström; Aldrik Velders; KTH; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; multivalent nanostructures; self-assembly; metal-ligand exchange; dynamic covalent chemistry; bipyridine derivatives; dendrimers; liposomes; drug delivery; antimicrobial materials; fluorescent probe; plasmonic chemistry; gold surface functionalization; Kemi; Chemistry;

    Abstract : This thesis focuses on the design, synthesis and development of dynamic multivalent nanostructures such as supramolecular dendrimers, liposomes and gold-functionalized nanostructures. These structures can be used for drug delivery and molecular sensing applications. READ MORE

  5. 10. Development and Multicolor Imaging Applications of Lanthanide-Based Luminescent Probes

    Author : Elias Pershagen; K. Eszter Borbas; Stéphane Petoud; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Lanthanide; luminescent probe; multicolor; Chemistry with specialization in Organic Chemistry; Kemi med inriktning mot organisk kemi;

    Abstract : The study of biological analytes in their native environment is a major challenge for biochemistry and molecular biology.  Luminesce spectroscopy is well suited for this task due to its non-invasiveness, high spatial and temporal resolution, and high signal to noise ratio. READ MORE
