1. Resonant Microwave Sensors for Industrial Applications
Abstract : This thesis presents developments in the area of microwave-based sensor systems for industrial applications. The work is motivated by a need for advanced measurement techniques in industry in general, and the process industry in particular. READ MORE

2. Reliable hp finite element computations of scattering resonances in nano optics
Abstract : Eigenfrequencies are commonly studied in wave propagation problems, as they are important in the analysis of closed cavities such as a microwave oven. For open systems, energy leaks into infinity and therefore scattering resonances are used instead of eigenfrequencies. READ MORE

3. Slow propagation line-based superconducting devices for quantum technology
Abstract : In the field of circuit quantum electrodynamics (c-QED), the coherent interaction of two-level systems (TLSs) with photons, confined in a superconducting microwaveresonator, opens up new possibilities for quantum computing experiments. This thesis contributes to the expansion of c-QED tool-box with slow propagation line-based solutions for ubiquitous techniques, such as cryogenic Near Field Scanning Microwave Microscopy (NSMM), Electron Spin Resonance (ESR) spectroscopy and Traveling Wave Parametric Amplifier (TWPA). 4. Adiabatic Andreev Levels Under Irradiation - Coherent Dynamics and Dephasing
Abstract : A study of the Andreev level current through a weakly voltage-biased single-mode superconducting quantum point contact under microwave irradiation is presented. The applied microwave field induces resonant transitions between the current carrying Andreev states localized to the contact region, which results in an increase of the dc subgap current by several orders of magnitude. 5. Extremal eigenvalues and geometry of quantum graphs
Abstract : This thesis consists of four papers concerning topics in the spectral theory of quantum graphs, which are differential operators on metric graphs. In paper I we present a family of graphs with an arbitrary number of cycles for which a certain eigenvalue upper estimate is sharp. READ MORE
