11. Terpenoid Conidiation Factors in Penicillium cyclopium
Abstract : Filamentous fungi produce asexual dispersive spores (conidia), when conditions are not suitable for apical extension growth. Conidiation (the process by which conidia produced) in genus Penicillium has attracted considerable interest because of its wide usage in different areas. READ MORE

12. Carbohydrate-Functionalized Nanomaterials : Synthesis, Characterization and Biorecognition Studies
Abstract : This thesis focuses on the development of carbohydrate coupling chemistry on nanomaterials and their biological activity studies. It is divided into two parts:In part one, two carbohydrate immobilization approaches, based on perfluorophenyl azide (PFPA)-functionalized silica nanoparticles (SNPs), are presented, where the binding affinity of the glyconanoparticles was evaluated through carbohydrate-lectin interaction. 13. Efficient and Wideband Load Modulated Power Amplifiers for Wireless Communication
Abstract : The increasing demand for mobile data traffic has resulted in new challenges and requirements for the development of the wireless communication infrastructure. With the transition to higher frequencies and multi-antenna systems, radio frequency (RF) hardware performance, especially the power amplifier (PA), becomes increasingly important. READ MORE

14. Fast Chemistry by Microwave Heating : First Descriptions of Highly Enantioselective Microwave Protocols for Metal Catalysis; First Descriptions of in-situ Gas Generation for Fast Combinatorial Microwave Chemistry
Abstract : Microwave heating was applied to different palladium-catalyzed allylic substitution reactions. The use of various nucleophiles demonstrated C-, N-, O- and S- nucleophilicity. High yields and stereopurities of the corresponding alkyls, amides, ethers and sulfones were afforded after only 30 – 120 s of heating. READ MORE

15. High Temperature Superconducting and Tunable Ferroelectric Microwave Devices
Abstract : This thesis addresses some applications of High Temperature Superconductors (HTS) and ferroelectric materials in tunable microwave devices and circuits. The work is divided into three main areas: i) modeling of multilayered structures including ferroelectric layers, ii) realization and characterization of tunable coplanar waveguides (CPW), capacitors and resonators based on ferroelectrics, and iii) an investigation of microstrip HTS K-band filters.
