  1. 21. The three-component aza-Baylis-Hillman reaction : development and application

    Author : Daniela Balan; Hans Adolfsson; Varinder Aggarwal; Stockholms universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Organic chemistry; Organisk kemi;

    Abstract : The current thesis presents the optimization and generalization of the Baylis-Hillman reaction applied to in situ generated imines, i.e. a three-component aza- Baylis-Hillman reaction. We found that the title reaction proceeds most efficiently in the presence of a combination of catalysts, i. READ MORE

  2. 22. Design and Synthesis of Enzyme Inhibitors Against Infectious Diseases : Targeting Hepatitis C Virus NS3 Protease and Mycobacterium tuberculosis Ribonucleotide Reductase

    Author : Johan Gising; Mats Larhed; Anders Karlén; Victor Snieckus; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Medicinal Chemistry; Läkemedelskemi;

    Abstract : Infectious diseases, including hepatitis C and tuberculosis, claim the lives of over 15 million people each year. Hepatitis C is caused by the hepatitis C virus (HCV) which infects the liver and can ultimately result in liver transplantation. HCV is very adaptive as a result of its high mutation rate. READ MORE

  3. 23. Palladium(II)-Catalysed Heck and Addition Reactions : Exploring Decarboxylative and Desulfitative Processes

    Author : Bobo Skillinghaug; Mats Larhed; Antonio de la Hoz Ayuso; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Palladium; catalysis; palladium II catalysis; synthesis; Heck; carboxylic acid; sulfinic acid; sodium sulfinate; nitrile; styrene; ketone; aryl ketone; electrospray ionization mass spectrometry; density functional theory; microwave heating; continuous flow; Chemistry with specialization in Organic Chemistry; Kemi med inriktning mot organisk kemi;

    Abstract : Palladium complexes have the ability to catalyse cross-coupling of two organic moieties through the formation of transient metal-carbon bonds, thus bringing them closer to each other to facilitate the formation of a new bond. Palladium-catalysed coupling reactions are one of the most important carbon-carbon forming reactions available to organic chemists and many of these reactions rely on the reactivity of aryl-palladium complexes. 4. 24. Palladium-Catalyzed Carbonylation and Arylation Reactions

    Author : Jonas Sävmarker; Mats Larhed; Gary Molander; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; palladium; carbonylation; styrene; amidine; aryl ketones; aryl sulfinates; ESI-MS; aryltrifluoroborates; Organic Pharmaceutical Chemistry; Organisk farmaceutisk kemi;

    Abstract : Palladium-catalyzed reactions have found widespread use in contemporary organic chemistry due to their impressive range of functional group tolerance and high chemo- and regioselectivity. The pioneering contributions to the development of the Pd-catalyzed C-C bond forming cross-coupling reaction were rewarded with the Nobel Prize in Chemistry in 2010. READ MORE

  5. 25. Development of Novel Hydroporphyrins for Light Harvesting and Sensitising NIR Lanthanide Luminescence

    Author : Ruisheng Xiong; Eszter Borbas; Christian Brückner; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; chlorin; hydroporphyrin; chlorophyll analogues; light harvesting; lanthanide luminescence; Chemistry with specialization in Organic Chemistry; Kemi med inriktning mot organisk kemi;

    Abstract : Chlorins, as the core structures of chlorophylls, have been extensively studied for harvesting solar energy, fluorescent imaging and photodynamic therapy against cancer. This thesis is concerned with design and synthesis of novel chlorins as antennae for harvesting light and sensitising near infrared lanthanide luminescence. READ MORE
