1. Selectivity in Palladium- and Enzyme-Catalyzed Reactions : Focusing on Enhancement of Reactivity
Abstract : Catalysis has a profound impact on all living species on the earth. Nature’s catalysts, the enzymes, have the ability to selectively promote a specific bio-chemical transformation, given the required substrate. READ MORE

2. Fluid Catalytic Cracking Catalyst Demetallization and Reactivation, Modeling of Catalytic Cracking, and Use of Microwaves to Heat Fluid Beds
Abstract : The fluid catalytic cracking unit (FCCU), the major conversion unit in an oil refinery, uses a silica-alumina zeolite catalyst to convert heavy hydrocarbons to light hydrocarbons. A small fraction of the catalyst must be continually replaced with fresh catalyst to maintain activity. READ MORE

3. Acetylation of Solid Wood. Wood Properties and Process Development
Abstract : The influence of acetylation on selected wood properties has been determined for Scandinavian pine and spruce wood, in order to predict the behavior of acetylated wood when it is used in different applications. Only minor differences in both bending strength and the modulus of elasticity were obtained for acetylated wood when compared with unmodified wood, and can, for practical applications, be considered unaltered. 4. Analysis of Industrial Microwave Ovens
Abstract : This thesis deals with the analysis and design of microwave ovens used in the food industry. Such analysis is desirable in order to optimize the performance of the ovens and to reduce the time and expenses of developing new or improved ovens. READ MORE

5. Microwave heating effects on degradation and migration of additives from polypropylene packaging
Abstract : The effect of different food types, polymer qualities and microwaves on the overall and specific migration during microwave heating of plastic packaging was investigated to better understand the packaging-food interactions and the effect of microwaves on food packaging. This work focuses on the migration of chemical compounds to food simulants from commercially available polypropylene packages. READ MORE
