  1. 11. Tandem optical parametric oscillators using volume Bragg grating spectral control

    Author : Markus Henriksson; Fredrik Laurell; Hiromasa Ito; KTH; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; optical parametric oscillators; mid-infrared; volume Bragg gratings; PPKTP; ZGP; nonlinear optics; narrowband OPO; Physics; Fysik;

    Abstract : This thesis describes research on near degenerate quasi phase-matched opticalparametric oscillators (OPO) where volume Bragg gratings (VBG) are used toproduce narrow oscillation bandwidth. These OPOs are then used to pump a secondOPO to generate mid-infrared radiation. The atmospheric transmission windows in the 3. READ MORE

  2. 12. Quantitative Modeling of Gain in Quantum Cascade Lasers under Operational Intensities

    Author : David Winge; Matematisk fysik; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; non-linear response; quantum cascade lasers; modelling; Non-equilibrium Green s functions; Gain clamping; Fysicumarkivet A:2016:Winge; kvantkaskadlaser; terahertz; infrarött; Halvledarfysik; spektroskopi; simulering;

    Abstract : This thesis adresses modeling of quantum cascade lasers using non-equilibrium Green’s functions. Focus lies on the quantitative modeling of the gain when the systems are exposed to strong laser fields, as under realistic opertional conditions. READ MORE

  3. 13. Temperature measurements on silicon core fibers during CO2 laser processing

    Author : Korbinian Mühlberger; Michael Fokine; Valerio Pruneri; KTH; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Fysik; Physics;

    Abstract : This thesis presents temperature measurements on silicon core optical fibers during CO2 laser processing. Silicon core fibers are a new type of fiber offering a unique platform to combine the optoelectronic properties of silicon and the possibilities of the optical fiber platform. READ MORE

  4. 14. Novel Materials and Technologies for IR Optoelectronic Applications

    Author : Yuxin Song; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; GaSbBi; dilute bismide; InAs GaSb type-II superlattice; metamorphic; InSbBi; alloy graded buffer; threading dislocation; infrared; molecular beam epitaxy;

    Abstract : This thesis focuses on novel III-V materials (InAs/GaSb type-II superlattices, T2SL, and dilute bismides) and metamorphic growth techniques for infrared optoelectronics all of which may find wide spread applications in telecommunication, energy harvesting and saving, sensing and imaging. Mid-wavelength infrared (MWIR) and long-wavelength infrared (LWIR) photodetectors at the atmospheric windows of 3-5 and 8-12 µm, respectively, are currently dominated by HgCdTe and quantum well infrared photodetectors. 5. 15. Shining Light on Molecules : Electron Transfer Processes in Model Systems for Solar Energy Conversion Investigated by Transient Absorption Spectroscopy

    Author : Jens Föhlinger; Leif Hammarström; Davidsson Jan; Benjamin Dietzek; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; photophysics; photoinduced electron transfer; transient absorption spectroscopy; laser spectroscopy; solar energy conversion; p-type DSSCs; Charge separation; recombination; mesoporous NiO;

    Abstract : In the recent years, solar energy conversion has attracted a huge research interest due to the potential application for limiting the greenhouse effect. In many solar cells and solar fuel cells, understanding of charge transfer (CT) and recombination is important for future improvement of the overall efficiency. READ MORE
