  1. 1. Multi-Dimensional Quantitative Laser-based Diagnostics - Development and Practial Applications

    Author : Rikard Wellander; Förbränningsfysik; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Post injection; Structured illumination; Mie scattering; Dense sprays; Extinction coefficient; Signal attenuation; Laser extinction; Multiple scattering; Scattering measurements; Planar laser induced fluorescence; Time resolved; Imaging through turbulent media; Three-dimensional image acquisition; Diesel particulate filter regeneration; Wall impingent; Biodiesel; LII; Large-bore gas Engine; Pre-chamber ignition; Fysicumarkivet A:2014:Wellander;

    Abstract : Laser based optical diagnostic methods are routinely used in combustion research. Many of the more common approaches are based on illuminating a cross-section of the sample with a thin laser sheet. For example, by targeting an electronic transition in a molecule, its concentration within the plane illuminated by the laser sheet can be deduced. READ MORE

  2. 2. Laser Diagnostics in Combustion - Elastic Scattering and Picosecond Laser-Induced Fluorescence

    Author : Frederik Ossler; Förbränningsfysik; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Spray; Picosecond laser; Streak camera; Time resolved; Fluorescence lifetimes; 3 – D flow imaging; 2 - D lifetime imaging; Pressure; Temperature; Hydrogen atoms; Oxygen atoms; 3-pentanone; Acetone; Lorenz-Mie theory; Aerosol; Fysicumarkivet A:1999:Ossler; Scattering; Fysik; Physics; Polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons.;

    Abstract : Elastic scattering and the Lorenz-Mie (LM) theory in particular is used for the characterization of sub-micron- and micron-sized droplets of organic fuels in sprays and aerosols. Calculations on the Lorenz- Mie theory show that backward-sideward scattered visible radiation can be used for unambiguous detection of ensembles of homogeneous droplets of organic substances with diameters around 1 micrometer (size parameter between 2 and 6). 3. 3. Improved inspection and micrometrology of embedded structures in multi-layered ceramics : Development of optical coherence tomographic methods and tools

    Author : Rong Su; Lars Mattsson; Peter Ekberg; Jerzy Pluciński; KTH; []
    Keywords : Metrology; Optical Coherence Tomography; Ceramics; Embedded Structure; Multilayer; Nondestructive Testing; Optical Inspection; Critical Dimension Measurement; Infrared Imaging; Scattering; Mie Calculation; Image Processing; Monte Carlo Simulation; 测量学, 光学相干断层扫描术,陶瓷,嵌入式结构,多层,无损检测,光学检测,关键尺寸测量,红外成像,散射,Mie计算,图像处理,Monte Carlo模拟; SRA - Production; SRA - Produktion;

    Abstract : Roll-to-roll manufacturing of micro components based on advanced printing, structuring and lamination of ceramic tapes is rapidly progressing. This large-scale and cost-effective manufacturing process of ceramic micro devices is however prone to hide defects within the visually opaque tape stacks. READ MORE

  5. 5. Multi-Scattering: Computational light transport in turbid media

    Author : Joakim Jönsson; Förbränningsfysik; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Monte carlo simulations; scattering in tissues; particulate scattering; GPU; CUDA; Fysicumarkivet A:2021:Jönsson;

    Abstract : This thesis presents and describes the development of an online freely accessible software called Multi-Scattering for the computational modeling of light propagation in scattering and absorbing media. The model is based on the use of the Monte Carlo method, where billions of photon packets are being launched and tracked through simulated cubic volumes. READ MORE
