  1. 1. Terrestrial response to Dansgaard-Oeschger cycles and Heinrich events : the lacustrine record of Les Echets, south-eastern France

    Author : Daniel S. Veres; Barbara Wohlfarth; John J. Lowe; Stockholms universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; lake sediments; palaeoclimate; organic matter; Dansgaard-Oeschger cycles; Heinrich events; MIS 3; Western Europe; Quaternary geology; Kvartärgeologi; Quarternary Geology; kvartärgeologi;

    Abstract : Marine Isotope Stage (MIS) 3 was an interval characterized by large and abrupt temperature changes on a millennial time scale, the so-called Dansgaard-Oeschger (DO) cycles and Heinrich events. Evidence for this high-frequency climate variability has been identified in many marine and ice core records. READ MORE

  2. 2. Studies on Tropical Palaeo-variation in Climate and Cosmic Ray Influx : Geochemical data from stalagmites collected in Tanzania and northern South Africa

    Author : Katarina Lundblad; Karin Holmgren; Augusto Mangini; Stockholms universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; palaeoclimatology; cosmic ray influx; stalagmites; Earth sciences; Geovetenskap;

    Abstract : The main aims of this project were to contribute to the knowledge about tropical climate variations, and to investigate the possibilities of obtaining cosmic ray influx data from stalagmites.Stalagmites from Tanzania and northern South Africa were palaeoclimatologically analysed. 3. 3. The impact of past land-use change on floristic diversity in southern Sweden : a quantitative approach based on high-resolution pollen data

    Author : Daniel Fredh; Kvartärgeologi; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES;

    Abstract : This thesis explores the relationship between land-use and floristic diversity over the last three millennia in the uplands of southern Sweden. A quantitative approach based on high-resolution pollen data was applied, using the Landscape Reconstruction Algorithm (LRA), historical maps/aerial photographs, palynological richness and new ways to estimate past evenness at regional and local spatial scales, which enable estimates of the rate and degree of change in land-use and floristic diversity. 4. 4. Historical anthropogenic radiative forcing of changes in biogenic secondary organic aerosol

    Author : Juan Camilo Acosta Navarro; Ilona Riipinen; Annica Ekman; Stockholms universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES;

    Abstract : Human activities have lead to changes in the energy balance of the Earth and the global climate. Changes in atmospheric aerosols are the second largest contributor to climate change after greenhouse gases since 1750 A.D. READ MORE

    Abstract : The first chapter investigates the relationship between economic media sentiment and individuals’ expectations and perceptions about economic conditions. We test if economic media sentiment Granger-causes individuals’ expectations and opinions concerning economic conditions, controlling for macroeconomic variables. READ MORE
