  1. 1. Studies on Peripheral Nerve Regeneration: Microdispensing, Neurite Guidance and Galectins

    Author : Per Gustavsson; Funktionell zoologi; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; vävnadskultur; histokemi; cytokemi; Histologi; tissue culture; histochemistry; cytochemistry; Histology; Schwann cells; sciatic nerve; dorsal root ganglia; DRG; neurite guidance; galectins; inkjet; microdispensing; peripheral nervous system; nerve regeneration; Animal physiology; Djurfysiologi; Biotechnology; Bioteknik;

    Abstract : The present thesis describes development of a microdispenser-based technique to create of protein patterns for neurite guidance. The same technique was also developed to allow direct positioning of dissociated cells, including neurons, on cell culture substrates. Finally the role of galectin-3 and 8 during nerve regeneration was investigated. READ MORE

  4. 4. Chronic kidney disease in the dog : pathophysiological mechanisms and diagnostic aspects

    Author : Lena Pelander; Sveriges lantbruksuniversitet; Sveriges lantbruksuniversitet; []
    Keywords : LANTBRUKSVETENSKAPER; AGRICULTURAL SCIENCES;

    Abstract : Abstract Chronic kidney disease (CKD) is a contributor to morbidity and mortality in dogs. The general aim of this thesis was to increase knowledge regarding pathophysiologic mechanisms and early diagnosis of canine CKD by identifying dogs with increased risk of disease, and by exploring the value of various biomarkers in blood and urine. 5. 5. Fault Tolerance for Real-Time Systems: Analysis and Optimization of Roll-back Recovery with Checkpointing

    Author : Dimitar Nikolov; Institutionen för elektro- och informationsteknik; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; soft errors; fault tolerance; real-time systems; checkpointing; reliability;

    Abstract : Increasing soft error rates in recent semiconductor technologies enforce the usage of fault tolerance. While fault tolerance enables correct operation in the presence of soft errors, it usually introduces a time overhead. READ MORE
