1. Peroxyoxalate Chemiluminescence for Miniaturized Analytical Flow Systems
Abstract : This thesis deals with the peroxyoxalate chemiluminescence (POCL) reaction and its application as a detection technique in flow systems for chemical analysis. Particularly, miniaturized flow systems aimed for separation of molecules. READ MORE

2. Microfluidics in Surface Modified PDMS : Towards Miniaturized Diagnostic Tools
Abstract : There is a strong trend in fabricating miniaturized total analytical systems, µTAS, for various biochemical and cell biology applications. These miniaturized systems could e.g. gain better separation performances, be faster, consume less expensive reagents and be used for studies that are difficult to access in the macro world. 3. Miniaturized Hard Waveguides in Multifunction Array Antennas
Abstract : Recent advances in technologies of wireless communications systems have led to an increasing desire for several antennas performing diverse functions at different frequencies to be integrated into a common radiating aperture. This gives rise to the so-called multifunction antenna, which affords the saving of scarce premium real estate and can alleviate problems arising from excessive antenna protrusions in aspects such as aerodynamics, aesthetics, and stealth capability in military applications. 4. Strategies for Miniaturized Biomarker Detection
Abstract : The aim of this thesis is development and application of different miniaturized strategies for detection of biomarkers. The biomarker PSA (prostate specific antigen), which is prostate cancer specific, has been the main focus of the thesis. READ MORE

5. Microsystems Technology for Underwater Vehicle Applications
Abstract : The aim of this thesis work has been to investigate how miniaturization, such as microsystems technology, can potentially increase the scientific throughput in exploration of hard-to-reach underwater environments, such as the subglacial lakes of Antarctica, or other challenging environments, including cave systems and wrecks. A number of instruments and subsystems applicable to miniature submersibles have been developed and studied, and their potential to provide a high functionality density for size-restricted exploration platforms has been assessed.
