  1. 1. Minimally invasive hernia surgery

    Author : Sven Bringman; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Keywords : Inguinal hernia; minimally invasive; laparoscopic; TEP; TAPP; Lichtenstein; Meshplug; tension-free; mesh; balloon; rehabilitation; Swedish Hernia Register; learning curve; complications; intestinal obstruction; polypropylene; polyglactin.;

    Abstract : Minimally invasive laparoscopic and open tension-free techniques have been evolved during the 1990's. Different laparoscopic techniques have been used, where the totally extraperitoneal hernioplasty (TEP) is a technically demanding but probably a better approach to minimally invasive hernia surgery than the transabdominal preperitoneal technique (TAPP), which may increase the risk of adhesions and postoperative intestinal obstruction. 2. 2. Minimally invasive aortic valve replacement

    Author : Magnus Dalén; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Keywords : ;

    Abstract : Background: Minimally invasive aortic valve replacement (AVR) through a ministernotomy has been developed as an alternative approach to conventional full sternotomy AVR. During recent years, sutureless aortic bioprostheses were introduced with the aim to facilitate implantation, especially in minimally invasive procedures. READ MORE

  3. 3. Minimally Invasive Catheter-Based Technologies

    Author : Mikael Sandell; Göran Stemme; Staffan Holmin; Niclas Roxhed; Wouter van der Wijngaart; Stefan Jonsson; Duncan Maitland; KTH; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Medicinsk teknologi; Medical Technology;

    Abstract : A simple incision procedure in a blood vessel makes the entire vascular system accessible. Through contrast injection and X-ray visualization, the vascular tree can be mapped and navigated through manual manipulation of thin tubes and wires. READ MORE

  4. 4. Aspects on Minimally Invasive Surgery for Rectal Tumours

    Author : Torbjörn Swartling; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; minimally invasive surgery; rectal neoplasm; transanal endoscopic microsurgery; inflammatory response; magnetic resonance imaging; endosonography; treatment outcome; local neoplasm recurrence;

    Abstract : Background: Transanal endoscopic microsurgery (TEM) and laparoscopic rectal resection are minimally invasive methods of surgery for rectal tumours. One aim of this thesis was to analyse the inflammatory response after minimally invasive surgery compared with open resection. READ MORE

  5. 5. Achilles tendon rupture: the evaluation and outcome of percutaneous and minimally invasive repair

    Author : Michael R Carmont; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Achilles tendon rupture; percutaneous; minimally-invasive; outcome; Achilles tendon Total Rupture Score; Achilles Tendon Resting Angle; Heel-Rise Height;

    Abstract : Acute Achilles tendon rupture is common and has increasing incidence. This is thought to be due to increasing activity and sports participation in middle age. Sustaining an Achilles tendon rupture means a long rehabilitation period and many patients do not achieve full recovery of strength and function. READ MORE
