  2. 7. When Employees Leap to Self-Employment

    Author : Frederik Witte; Företagsekonomiska institutionen; []
    Keywords : SAMHÄLLSVETENSKAP; SOCIAL SCIENCES; self-employment entry; occupational choice; idea creation; occupation; laboratory experiment; panel data; survival analysis; data mining; model; entrepreneurship;

    Abstract : The dissertation studies the determinants of self-employment entry through an economics of entrepreneurship lens, and examines two sources of data: 7 years of employer--employee matched panel data and a laboratory experiment. The results suggest that employees are more likely to take the leap to self-employment when they have their own business idea, and are employed in occupations with high wage variance. READ MORE

  3. 8. Use of data mining and artificial intelligence to derive public health evidence from large datasets

    Author : Hugo Fitipaldi; Genetisk och molekylär epidemiologi; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; artificial Intelligence; data mining; genome-wide association studies; covid-19;

    Abstract : This thesis explores the use of data mining and AI-tailored frameworks for extracting public health evidence from large health datasets. The research presented in this thesis demonstrates the potential of these tools for automating and simplifying the data mining process, and for providing valuable insights into various public health issues. 4. 9. Facilitating the Implementation and Use of Self Service Business Intelligence

    Author : Christian Lennerholt; Joeri van Laere; Eva Söderström; Barbara Dinter; Högskolan i Skövde; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Information Systems; Informationssystem IS ;

    Abstract : In traditional Business Intelligence (BI), there is a request-response scenario between technical power users serving non-technical casual users. Today, when data volumes and the frequency of use of a traditional BI system increase, power users are unable to serve all requests from casual users. READ MORE

  5. 10. An interactive decision support system using simulation-based optimization and knowledge extraction

    Author : Ingemar Karlsson; Amos Ng; Anna Syberfeldt; Sunith Bandaru; Leif Pehrsson; Anders Skoogh; Högskolan i Skövde; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Production and Automation Engineering; Produktion och automatiseringsteknik;

    Abstract : The use of simulation to improve existing manufacturing systems is not new, but simulation can also be used increase the understanding of production systems that have not yet been built. The power of simulation models can be further enhanced by using simulation-based optimization, in which an optimization algorithm tries to find optimal solutions, given certain objectives. READ MORE
