  1. 1. Contributions to nonlinear mixed-effects modeling

    Author : Jacob Leander; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; nonlinear mixed-effects models; stochastic differential equations; parameter estimation; extended Kalman filter; sensitivity equations; stochastic differential equations;

    Abstract : The topic of this thesis is nonlinear mixed-effects models. A nonlinear mixed-effects model is a hierarchical regression model used to analyze measurements from several individuals simultaneously, which allows sharing of information between similar individuals. READ MORE

  2. 2. Nonlinear Mixed Effects Modeling of Combination Therapies in Oncology

    Author : Marcus Baaz; Stiftelsen Fraunhofer-Chalmers Centrum för Industrimatematik (FCC); []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Pharmacol- ogy; Radiation Therapy; Oncology; Mathematical Modeling; Combination Therapy; Nonlinear Mixed Effects;

    Abstract : It has been shown that simultaneous administration of two or more anticancer agents can have a beneficial effect on cancer patients. This type of treatment is called combination therapy and is nowadays commonly used in the fight against cancer. READ MORE

  3. 3. Mixed Effects Modeling of Deterministic and Stochastic Dynamical Systems - Methods and Applications in Drug Development

    Author : Jacob Leander; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; pharmacometrics; pharmacokinetics; mixed effects; drug development; pharmacodynamics; parameter estimation; time-to-event; mathematical modeling; dynamical systems;

    Abstract : Mathematical models based on ordinary differential equations (ODEs) are commonly used for describing the evolution of a system over time. In drug development, pharmacokinetic (PK) and pharmacodynamic (PD) models are used to characterize the exposure and effect of drugs. READ MORE

  4. 4. Ontogenetic bottlenecks : effects on intraguild predation systems and ecosystem efficiency

    Author : Birte Reichstein; Lennart Persson; André M. De Roos; Priyanga Amarasekare; Umeå universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; mixed interactions; cannibalism; life-history omnivory; ontogenetic niche shift; biomass overcompensation; biomass production; ontogenetic asymmetry; indirect effects; biology; biologi; zooekologi; Animal Ecology;

    Abstract : Size-dependent differences between individuals in size-structured organisms have fundamental effect on population and community dynamics. Intraguild predation (IGP) is one specifically interesting constellation that often arises when two size-structured populations interact. READ MORE

  5. 5. Mixed Block Copolymer Solutions: Self-Assembly and Interactions

    Author : Solmaz Bayati; Fysikalisk kemi; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Polymer; Block Copolymer; PEO-PPO-PEO; Pluronics©; Bile Salt; NaGDC; PNIPAAM; PAMPTMA; PAMPS; Mixed Micelle; Self-Assembly; Mixed Complexes;

    Abstract : This thesis incorporates studies on the aqueous systems of two types of thermoresponsive amphiphilic block copolymers; a series of nonionic triblock copolymers comprising blocks of poly(ethylene oxide) (PEO) and poly(propylene oxide) (PPO) denoted as PEO-PPO-PEO block copolymers, and a series of ionic diblock copolymers consisting of one charged block and one block of poly(N-isopropylacrylamide) (PNIPAAM). Various techniques, such as dynamic and static light scattering (DLS and SLS), small angle X-ray and neutron scattering (SAXS and SANS), high sensitivity differential scanning calorimetry (HSDSC), turbidimetry, electrophoretic mobility measurements, and two-dimensional proton NMR nuclear Overhauser effect spectroscopy (2D 1H NMR NOESY), were applied to study these block copolymer systems.
