1. Genetic interaction between Type 1 and Type 2 diabetes
Abstract : There are two major types of diabetes, type 1 and type 2 diabetes. Similarly characterized by hyperglycaemia and long term micro- and macrovascular complications, type 1 and type 2 diabetes have different underlying pathophysiologic processes. In Scandinavia, type 1 diabetes is common; type 2 diabetes accounts for 85% of all cases with diabetes. READ MORE

2. Experiences of living with type 1 diabetes and improving psychological flexibility through an Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) intervention
Abstract : Background: Impaired psychological health in type 1 diabetes is prevalent and associated with elevated glycaemic outcomes. International evidence-based guidelines have defined glycaemic treatment targets to prevent acute and long-term complications. READ MORE

3. Vascular and metabolic effects of selective PDE-5 inhibition - clinical and experimental studies
Abstract : ABSTRACT Vascular and metabolic effects of selective PDE-5 inhibition Clinical and experimental studies Lovisa Sjögren Department of Molecular and Clinical Medicine, Institute of Medicine at Sahlgrenska Academy, University of Gothenburg Key words: Type 2 diabetes, phosphodiesterase-5 inhibition, inflammation, endothelial cells, HUVEC. TNFα, ICAM-1, VCAM-1, E-Selectin, JNK, MAPK Background: Type 2 diabetes (T2D) patients show impaired glucose metabolism, endothelial dysfunction, chronic low-grade inflammation as well as an increased risk of cardiovascular disease. 4. Mixed Block Copolymer Solutions: Self-Assembly and Interactions
Abstract : This thesis incorporates studies on the aqueous systems of two types of thermoresponsive amphiphilic block copolymers; a series of nonionic triblock copolymers comprising blocks of poly(ethylene oxide) (PEO) and poly(propylene oxide) (PPO) denoted as PEO-PPO-PEO block copolymers, and a series of ionic diblock copolymers consisting of one charged block and one block of poly(N-isopropylacrylamide) (PNIPAAM). Various techniques, such as dynamic and static light scattering (DLS and SLS), small angle X-ray and neutron scattering (SAXS and SANS), high sensitivity differential scanning calorimetry (HSDSC), turbidimetry, electrophoretic mobility measurements, and two-dimensional proton NMR nuclear Overhauser effect spectroscopy (2D 1H NMR NOESY), were applied to study these block copolymer systems. 5. Obesity in diabetes. Cardiovascular outcomes and risk factor trajectories
Abstract : Introduction: The association between body mass index (BMI) and mortality in diabetes is complex and sparsely investigated for cardiovascular (CVD) outcomes. We aimed to investigate these relationships among patients with type 1 and type 2 diabetes using data from the Swedish national diabetes registry (NDR), with focus on potential reverse causality.
