  1. 1. Systematic Antenna Design Using the Theory of Characteristic Modes

    Author : Zachary Miers; Institutionen för elektro- och informationsteknik; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Theory of Characteristic Modes; Antenna Design; Antenna; Characteristic Modes; Computational Electromagnetics; MIMO Systems; MIMO Antenna; MIMO; Mutual Coupling; Mobile Antenna;

    Abstract : The day Faraday moved a magnet in and out of a wire loop and detected the time-varying magnetic field, the first wireless transmitter / receiver system was created and the world was changed forever. However, it took almost fifty years for Heinrich Hertz to use Maxwell's equations and Faraday's insights in his professorship at Karlsruhe to create the first electromagnetic wireless communication system using a spark gap dipole transmitter and a loop antenna-based receiver. 2. 2. Investigating and Enhancing Performance of Multiple Antenna Systems in Compact MIMO/Diversity Terminals

    Author : Shuai Zhang; Sailing He; Raj Mittra; KTH; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Multiple antennas; planar inverted-F antenna; mutual coupling; slot antenna; compact antenna; mobile antenna; Q factors; antenna array; ultra-wideband UWB antenna; pattern diversity; polarization diversity; user effects; adaptive arrays; chassis mode;

    Abstract : Today, owners of small communicating device are interested in transmitting or receiving various multimedia data. By increasing the number of antennas at the transmitter and/or the receiver side of the wireless link, the diversity/Multiple-Input Multiple-Output (MIMO) techniques can increase wireless channel capacity without the need for additional power or spectrum in rich scattering environments. 3. 3. Mobile Antenna Systems for 4G and 5G Applications with User Body Interaction

    Author : Kun Zhao; Sailing He; Cyril Luxey; KTH; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Antenna; MIMO; mmWave; Mobile communication; SAR; Power density; User body effect; Channel modeling; Multiplex efficiency; Electrical Engineering; Elektro- och systemteknik;

    Abstract : In the thesis, the user body effect on antennas in a mobile terminal is discussed. In order to overcome the degradation of Multiple-Input Multiple-Output (MIMO) performance due to the user body effect, a quad-elements MIMO antenna array which can mitigate the body effect through an adaptive antenna switching method is introduced for 4G mobile terminals. 4. 4. Embedded Element Patterns in Combination with Circuit Simulations for Multi-Port Antenna Analysis

    Author : Kristian Karlsson; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; antenna efficiency; Greens function; multi-port antenna; impedance matching; reverberation chamber; correlation; antenna arrays; Embedded element pattern; optimization; antenna diversity;

    Abstract : This thesis is a result from work on two different subjects, electromagnetic simulations of reverberation chambers and a methodology for the analysis of multi-port antennas. The subjects can be linked together by their contribution to knowledge in electromagnetic simulations and characterization of antennas. READ MORE

  5. 5. Mobile Satellite Broadcast and Multichannel Communications : analysis and design

    Author : Cristoff Martin; Björn Ottersten; Jack Winters; KTH; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Signalbehandling; communications; satellite broadcast; mobile; MIMO; asymptotic analysis; spatial multiplexing; Signalbehandling; Signal processing; Signalbehandling;

    Abstract : In this thesis, analytical analysis and design techniques for wireless communications with diversity are studied. The impact of impairments such as correlated fading is analyzed using statistical models. Countermeasures designed to overcome, or even exploit, such effects are proposed and examined. READ MORE
