1. Mechanical Characterization of Engineering Materials by Modal Testing
Abstract : This thesis deals with the use of modal testing for establishing elastic constants of engineering materials and for indicating material variability in terms of stiffness and damping properties. The methodology using modal testing techniques, is applied to timber beams, high strength concrete prisms, wood-based panels (oriented strand board and chipboard), an aluminium alloy panel and plastic laminate panels (high-pressure laminate). 2. Source Language of Lexical Transfer in Multilingual Learners : A Mixed Methods Approach
Abstract : The study reported in this thesis investigates the source language of lexical transfer in multilingual learners using a mixed methods approach. Previous research has shown that the source language of crosslinguistic influence can be related to factors such as proficiency, recency/exposure, psychotypology, the L2 status, and item-specific transferability. 3. Unsupervised Learning of Biomolecular Dynamics with Multi-Modal Data
Abstract : The functioning of cells critically depends on the dynamics of biomolecular systems, such as proteins or nucleic acids. Biophysical experiments as well as Molecular Dynamics (MD) simulations are the primary techniques to model and understand the kinetics and thermodynamics of biomolecules. READ MORE

4. Bridge Monitoring to Allow for Reliable Dynamic FE Modelling : A Case Study of the New Årsta Railway Bridge
Abstract : Today’s bridge design work in many cases demands a trustworthy dynamic analysis instead of using the traditional dynamic amplification factors. In this thesis a reliable 3D Bernoulli-Euler beam finite element model of the New Årsta Railway Bridge was prepared for thorough dynamic analysis using in situ bridge monitoring for correlation. 5. Using soft systems methodology as a methodology for multi-modal systems design
Abstract : The aim of this research is to contribute to the field of systems design by developing intellectual tools that can help designers to conceptualise, create and evaluate different design alternatives. In this work I focus my attention on Soft Systems Methodology. READ MORE
