21. Reliable Uncertainty Quantification in Statistical Learning
Abstract : Mathematical models are powerful yet simplified abstractions used to study, explain, and predict the behavior of systems of interest. This thesis is concerned with their latter application as predictive models. READ MORE

22. Moisture-induced stress and distortion of wood : A numerical and experimental study of wood's drying and long-term behaviour
Abstract : With the current advances made in three-dimensional modelling of wood, it is possible to provide an overall picture of moisture flow, and moisture-induced stress and deformations, whereas previously, experiments only provided local measurements. The main aim of the doctoral thesis is to investigate the possibilities of the developed three-dimensional numerical model to predict the behaviour of wood when simultaneously exposed to a mechanical load and a particular climate. 23. Probing Interactions between Bio-Fibre Components
READ MORE

24. Pose Estimation and Calibration Algorithms for Vision and Inertial Sensors
Abstract : This thesis deals with estimating position and orientation in real-time, using measurements from vision and inertial sensors. A system has been developed to solve this problem in unprepared environments, assuming that a map or scene model is available. READ MORE

25. Dynamic response reconstruction using passive components
Abstract : In many testing applications within the field of structural dynamics, such as noise and vibration harshness, rattle and squeak, or durability testing in the automotive and truck industries, large hydraulic or electromagnetic actuators are used to excite the tested structure. Such actuators are mounted in the laboratory in a fixed configuration referred to here as a test rig. READ MORE
