11. Structure, Morphology, and Catalytic Properties of CuOx/CeO2 Model Catalysts
Abstract : Cerium dioxide, or ceria, is a chemically stable oxygen ion conducting material with a capacity to store and release oxygen, and is therefore extensively used in combustion catalysts. The Cu-Ce-O system has been identified as one of the most active catalysts for the combustion of carbon monoxide. READ MORE

12. Drying of Multicomponent Liquid Films
Abstract : The convective drying of thin layers of multicomponentliquid mixtures into an inert gas, and the influence ofdifferent process controlling mechanisms on drying selectivityis studied. Drying experiments under gas-phase-controlledconditions are performed by low intensity evaporation, fromfree liquid surfaces, of ternary mixtures without non-volatilesolutes. READ MORE

13. NOx Adsorption and Transport in ZSM-5 Films
Abstract : The present work dealt with a fundamental study of NOx adsorption-desorption and transport in ZSM-5 as films supported on cordierite monolith and as a part of composite membranes. The adsorption-desorption study was focused on developing a mechanistic understanding of NOx adsorption in ZSM-5 films including the effects of counter-ions, Si/Al ratios and film thicknesses on the adsorption. 14. Optical Absorption and Electrical Conductivity in Lithium Intercalated Amorphous Tungsten Oxide Films
Abstract : Optical and electrical properties of electrochemically lithium ion intercalated thin films of x-ray amorphous tungsten oxide made by magnetron sputtering on glass substrates coated with a thin layer of conductive tin doped indium oxide, have been studied. The composition and the density of the films were characterized by the ion beam analysis methods Rutherford Backscattering Spectroscopy and Elastic Recoil Detection Analysis. READ MORE

15. Probing Atomic Scale Structure and Catalytic Properties of Cobalt Oxide Model Catalysts
Abstract : Cobalt oxides are known to be active catalysts for a number of chemical reactions, but very little is known about the atomic scale processesresponsible for the activity. The research presented in this thesis is focused on obtaining an atomic scale understanding of the chemistry of wellcharacterizedcobalt oxide model catalyst surfaces consisting of pristine and defective CoO and Co3O4 thin films with the (111) and (100)terminations supported by Ag(100), Ir(100), and Au(111) single crystal surfaces.
