1. Diesel Engine Modeling for Engine Management System Development
Abstract : Due to increasingly strict emission legislation and stronger demands on fuel consumption, typical passenger car diesel engines become increasingly complex with more and more controllable systems added. These added systems open up for the possibility to operate the engine at more efficient conditions, but it also becomes more challenging to optimize the settings in the engine management system. 2. Model-Based Diesel Engine Management System Optimization - A Strategy for Transient Engine Operation
Abstract : To meet increasingly strict emission legislation and stronger demands on fuel consumption, typical passenger car diesel engines become increasingly complex with more and more controllable systems added. These added systems open up for the possibility to operate the engine at more efficient conditions, but it also becomes more challenging to optimize the settings in the engine management system. 3. Full Cycle Engine Simulations with Detailed Chemistry
Abstract : The modeling work developed in this thesis can be divided in two main areas of investigations: autoignition related to spark ignition engine and combustion and emissions formation in relation to diesel engines. A first version of a detailed kinetics engine simulation program, extended to handle full cycle calculations, was employed in order to demonstrate the strong effect that nitric oxide from the residual gas has on the autoignition onset. 4. Challenges in aero engine performance modeling
Abstract : There is a continuous drive for ever more efficient aero engines due to environmental as well as economical concerns. As the technology of conventional turbofan engines matures, there is a need for new aero engine concepts as well as incremental improvement of existing technologies. READ MORE

5. Thermodynamic Simulation of HCCI Engine Systems
Abstract : This thesis focuses on engine system simulation using thermodynamics and chemical kinetic models to investigate the performance and efficiency of Homogeneous Charge Compression Ignition (HCCI) engines for stationary applications. It includes the development of software as well as models for engine, turbocharger, intercooler, inlet and exhaust manifolds, wastegate valve, inlet air humidifier, inlet air heater and more.
