  1. 1. Graphic Representation and Visualisation as Modelling Support for the Knowledge Acquisition Process

    Author : Anne Håkansson; Andreas Hamfelt; Harald Kjellin; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Datavetenskap; Artficial Intelligence; Knowledge-Based Systems; Knowledge Acquisition; Graphic Representation; Visualisation; Unified Modelling Language; Modelling Rule-based Systems; Visual programming; Declarative Programming; Information Networks; User-Centered Design; Knowledge Interface; Datavetenskap; Computer science; Datavetenskap; datalogi; Computer Science;

    Abstract : The thesis describes steps taken towards using graphic representation and visual modelling support for the knowledge acquisition process in knowledge-based systems – a process commonly regarded as difficult. The performance of the systems depends on the quality of the embedded knowledge, which makes the knowledge acquisition phase particularly significant. READ MORE

  2. 2. Technology education and non-scientific technological knowledge

    Author : Per Norström; Sven Ove Hansson; Per Sandin; Inga-Britt Skogh; Ibo van de Poel; KTH; []
    Keywords : HUMANITIES; HUMANIORA; HUMANIORA; HUMANITIES; rule of thumb; technical knowledge; technological knowledge; technology education; epistemology of technology; design process; modelling;

    Abstract : This thesis consists of two essays and an introduction. The main theme is technological knowledge that is not based on the natural sciences.The first essay is about rules of thumb, which are simple instructions, used to guide actions toward a specific result, without need of advanced knowledge. 4. 4. Indoor emissions and fate of flame retardants : A modelling approach

    Author : Ioannis Liagkouridis; Ian Cousins; Anna Palm Cousins; Thomas McKone; Stockholms universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; flame retardants; BFRs; OPFRs; indoor environment; emissions; fate; modelling; Applied Environmental Science; tillämpad miljövetenskap;

    Abstract : A significant number of consumer goods and building materials act as emission sources of flame retardants (FRs) in the indoor environment. As a result, FRs have become ubiquitous indoors raising concerns about human exposure and possible health implications. READ MORE

  5. 5. Common Knowledge : lowland Maya urban farming at Xuch

    Author : Christian Isendahl; Luis Alberto Barba Pingarrón; Uppsala universitet; []
