  1. 1. Modern men : A Norwegian 30-year longitudinal study of intergenerational transmission and social change

    Author : Margunn Bjørnholt; Liisa Husu; Anna G. Jónasdóttir; Karen Henwood; Örebro universitet; []
    Keywords : SAMHÄLLSVETENSKAP; SOCIAL SCIENCES; fathering; intergenerational transmission; longitudinal qualitative research; masculinities; men; part-time; social change; work–family; Gender Studies; Genusvetenskap;

    Abstract : The dissertation addresses men and change, intergenerational transmission, historical change and agency, employing as a case a longitudinal follow-up study over two generations of men, where the fathers participated in an experimental research project, the Work-Sharing Couples Project, which aimed to promote egalitarian work–family adaptations in Norway in the early 1970s. The original project was based on both spouses working part-time and shift parenting. READ MORE

  2. 2. Bhaktisiddhanta Sarasvati. The Context and Significance of a Modern Hindu Personalist

    Author : Ferdinando Sardella; Göteborgs universitet; []

    Abstract : This study explores the life and work of Bhaktisiddhanta Sarasvati (1874-1937), a Vaishnava guru of the school of Chaitanya (1486-1534), who, at a time that Hindu non-dualism was most prominent, managed to establish a pan-Indian movement for the modern revival of traditional personalist bhakti that today encompasses both Indian and non-Indian populations throughout the world. To most historians, the period between 1815 and 1914 is known as Britain’s Imperial Century, when the power of British cultural influence was at its height, most especially in Calcutta, India, the jewel of the British crown. 3. 3. Monte Carlo Simulations of the Equilibrium Properties of Semi-stiff Polymer Chains : Efficient Sampling from Compact to Extended Structures

    Author : Alexey Siretskiy; Christer Elvingson; Alexander Lyubartsev; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; polymers; equilibrium properties; statistical mechanics; computer simulation; Monte Carlo; Wang-Landau; compact structures; parallel computations; Physical chemistry; Fysikalisk kemi; Chemistry with specialization in Physical Chemistry; Kemi med inriktning mot fysikalisk kemi;

    Abstract : Polymers is a class of molecules which can have many different structures due to a large number of degrees of freedom. Many biopolymers, e.g. DNA, but also synthetic macromolecules have special structural features due to their backbone stiffness. READ MORE

    Abstract : In concrete structures of complex geometries, the formability of concrete is an asset.However, complex geometries introduce time-demanding form and reinforcement works. READ MORE

  5. 5. Optimization of Structures in Contact

    Author : Daniel Hilding; Georgios E. Stavroulakis; Linköpings universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES;

    Abstract : This dissertation addresses the problem of developing theory, algorithms and computational methodology for optimization of structures in contact. Three particular research problems are studied: (i) developing efficient and reliable optimization algorithms for solving structural optimization problems including contact, (ii) creating more realistic state problems for structures in frictional contact, and (iii) developing computational methodology for shape optimization of structures in frictionless contact.
