  1. 1. Orthopaedic measurements with computed radiography. Methodological development, accuracy, and radiation dose with special reference to the weight-bearing lower extremity and the dislocating patella

    Author : Jan Sanfridsson; Lund Ortopedi; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Clinical physics; digital.; computer-assisted; Picture Archiving and Communication Systems; computed radiography; radiography; effective dose; radiation dosage; measurements; biomechanics; dislocating patella; musculoskeletal; patellofemoral joint; Knee joint; radiology; tomography; medical instrumentation; Klinisk fysiologi; radiologi; tomografi; medicinsk instrumentering;

    Abstract : The overall aim of this study was to develop and evaluate a measurement system for computed radiography (CR) and Picture Archiving and Communication Systems (PACS), permitting measurements of long distances and angles in and between related images. The developed measurement system, which was based on the QUESTOR Precision Radiography (QPR) system, was applied to the weight-bearing knee with special reference to the dislocating patella. 2. 2. Porous Sorbents for Environmental Applications and Selective Laser Sintering 3D Printing of Dosage Forms

    Author : Michelle Åhlén; Ocean Cheung; Maria Strömme; Jonas Lindh; Christel Bergström; Carlos Grande; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; metal-organic frameworks; zeolitic imidazolate frameworks; mesoporous magnesium carbonate; greenhouse gas capture; adsorption; adsorption kinetics; additive manufacturing; selective laser sintering; personalized medicines; Engineering Science with specialization in Nanotechnology and Functional Materials; Teknisk fysik med inriktning mot nanoteknologi och funktionella material;

    Abstract : The rising levels of greenhouse gas emissions from vehicular and industrial pollution constitute a serious concern not only for the environment but for our entire society. Traditional gas capture and separation techniques, such as amine scrubbing for CO2 gas separation, have been commonly used at a commercial scale, however issues relating to high costs and high energy requirements for sorbent regeneration have limited the efficiency of many of these techniques. 3. 3. Dephosphorization of magnetite fines : surface reactions, flotation kinetics and fuzzy logic application

    Author : Fenwei Su; Luleå tekniska universitet; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Mineralteknik; Mineral Processing;

    Abstract : The primary objective of the research work presented in this thesis is to investigate the influence of chemical and operational variables on the apatite flotation kinetics and to establish a suitable model using traditional method and fuzzy logic. The thesis consists of three parts, i.e. READ MORE

  4. 4. Urine separating wastewater systems : experiences of design and nitrogen conservation

    Author : Erica Johansson; Luleå tekniska universitet; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; VA-teknik; Urban Water Engineering;

    Abstract : Urine separating (US) wastewater systems, where urine is collected and used as a fertiliser, may be a strategy to achieve a high degree of nutrient recycling from human waste to agriculture. The Swedish experiences of US systems show that the design of the toilets and the sewers are of great importance to achieve a working system. READ MORE

  5. 5. Novel Synthetic Biology Tools for Metabolic Engineering of Saccharomyces cerevisiae

    Author : Siavash Partow; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Yeast promoter; MVA pathway; Metabolic engineering; Multi-copy plasmid.; Synthetic biology; S. cerevisiae; MEP pathway;

    Abstract : The most well characterized eukaryote model organism Saccharomyces cerevisiae is not only preferred as a microbial cell factory for synthesis of industrial products, e.g. bioethanol, but this eukaryote host system is also defined as a robust scaffold for commercial production of diverse chemicals e.g. READ MORE
