  1. 1. The acquisition of nominal compounding in Swedish

    Author : Ingmarie Mellenius; Allmän språkvetenskap; []
    Keywords : HUMANIORA; HUMANITIES; nominal compounds; modifier; head; liaison form; language acquisition; conceptual combination; compounding; word formation; Swedish; child language; Linguistics; Lingvistik;

    Abstract : In Swedish, as in other North Germanic languages, compounds are very common and a majority of the novel words in Swedish are compounds. This thesis aims at a presentation of compounding in Swedish and the problems involved in describing compounding, but mainly at an empirically founded description of children's creation and use of novel compounds and developing comprehension of compounds, especially nominal compounds. 2. 2. Rheumatoid arthritis as a modifier of periodontitis

    Author : Letícia Algarves Miranda; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Keywords : periodontal disease; attachment loss; juvenile idiopathic arthrtitis; rheumatoid arthritis; interleukin-1β; interleukin-18; elastase;

    Abstract : Periodontitis is a chronic tissue-destructive condition in which the tooth-supporting collagen fibers of ligament and bone are broken down mainly by the host s overreactive immune inflammatory response. The relation between periodontitis and other chronic inflammatory destructive diseases, such as rheumatoid arthritis (RA), has been dealt with in some studies because, in spite of their different etiologies, similar mechanisms of tissue destruction have been described in these conditions. 3. 3. Mechanical Recycling of Engineering Thermoplastics using Alloying Techniques

    Author : Xiaodong Liu; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; sandwich injection moulding; recycling; compatibilizer; in-situ compatibilization; engineering thermoplastics; J-integral; toughness; impact modifier;

    Abstract : The aim of this thesis is to indicate routes by which recycled engineering thermoplastics (ETP) can be upgraded using alloying techniques. Recycled ETP have often been subjected to long-term service-induced degradation, so that the residual properties of recycled ETP need to be improved. READ MORE

  4. 4. Tailoring the magnetic order in mesoscopic spin systems

    Author : Henry Stopfel; Vassilios Kapaklis; Hjörvarsson Björgvin; Unnar Arnalds; John Cumings; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; artificial spin ice; magnetic nano-structures; mesoscopic spin systems; mesospins; model systems; Shakti; Saint George; interaction modifier; engineering of energy-landscape; multiple energy-scales; Fysik; Physics;

    Abstract : Mesoscopic spin systems can be designed and fabricated using modern nano-fabrication techniques. These systems can contain large numbers of patterned ferromagnetic elements, for which the shape will generally determine their effective mesospin dimensionality. READ MORE

  5. 5. Long QT syndrome in Sweden : founder effects and associated cardiac phenotypes

    Author : Annika Winbo; Annika Rydberg; Eric Schulze-Bahr; Umeå universitet; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Long QT Syndrome; Jervell and Lange-Nielsen Syndrome; inherited arrhythmia; founder effects; clinical genetics; haplotype analysis; mutation age; founder mutation; clinical phenotype; life-threatening cardiac events; mutation-specific; KCNQ1 gene; modifier genes; sequence variants; risk stratification; risk factor; gender; pediatrik; Pediatrics;

    Abstract : Background: We aimed to increase the knowledge regarding the familial arrhythmogenic disorder Long QT Syndrome (LQTS) and its recessive variant Jervell and Lange-Nielsen Syndrome (JLNS) in Sweden, including prevalences and clinical phenotypes. A specific focus was directed towards two KCNQ1 mutations –p.Y111C and p. READ MORE
